Pettik Ádám
Ádám Pettik (born 26 August 1972) is a Hungarian musician, singer-songwriter, percussionist and instrument creator. He is the founder of the world music band Besh o droM. Early life Pettik was born in Budapest, Hungary. His first drum lesson was at age seven. When he joined the band Tükörország, he began playing percussion. Having played with several bands and experimenting with different sounds, he discovered the gypsy water can and it became his favourite instrument. Pettik has played with Kalyi Jag ( water jug), Tatros, Boban Marković, Félix Lajkó, Noir Désir (percussion). Career In 1999 Ádám Pettik and his brother-in-law Gergely Barcza, a saxophonist, founded the band Besh o droM along with Jozsef Toth, also a saxophonist. They have been acknowledged as the first worldwide Hungarian world music band. Noir Désir
Noir Désir (, ) was a French rock band from Bordeaux that formed in 1980. Their most consistent lineup featured Bertrand Cantat (vocals, guitar), Serge Teyssot-Gay (guitar), Frédéric Vidalenc (bass guitar) and Denis Barthe (drums). Jean-Paul Roy became the band's bassist in 1996 after Vidalenc's departure. They released six albums, two of which were certified double platinum in France and three which were certified gold. They have been an influence on numerous French musicians including Cali, Louise Attaque and Miossec. Their most popular song, " Le vent nous portera" (2001), reached number one in Italy and number three in France. The band entered an inactive state after frontman Cantat was imprisoned for the 2003 murder of French actress Marie Trintignant. WOMADelaide is an annual four-day festival of music, arts and dance in Botanic Park, Adelaide, South Australia. One of many WOMAD festivals held around the world, it is an event that presents a diverse selection of music from artists around the world, as well as side events like talks and discussions. Montreal International Jazz Festival
The Festival international de Jazz de Montréal is an annual jazz festival held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Montreal Jazz Fest holds the 2004 Guinness World Record as the world's largest jazz festival. Every year it features roughly 3,000 artists from 30-odd countries, more than 650 concerts (including 450 free outdoor performances), and welcomes over 2 million visitors (12.5% of whom are tourists) as well as 300 accredited journalists. Sziget Festival
Sziget Festival (, ) is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. It is held every August in northern Budapest, Hungary, on Óbudai-sziget ("Old Buda Island"), a leafy 108-hectare (266-acre) island on the Danube. More than 1,000 performances take place each year. The week-long festival has grown from a relatively low-profile student event in 1993 to become one of the prominent European rock festivals, with about half of all visitors coming from outside Hungary, especially from Western Europe.
