Sir Peter Scott Noble (17 October 1899 – 12 May 1987) was a British academic who was principal of King's College London from 1952 to 1968 and later vice-chancellor of the University of London from 1961 to 1964.Whitaker's Almanack 1963, p507, accessed 28 March 2015 Education Noble was educated at Fraserburgh Academy, Scotland, followed by University of Aberdeen and then St John's College, Cambridge, where he graduated with a double first in classics and Oriental language. He was made a fellow of St John's College, Cambridge. Career Noble was a lecturer in Latin at Liverpool University from 1926 to 1930. He then became professor of Latin language and literature at the University of Leeds from 1930 to 1938 and then Regius Professor of Humanity at the University of Aberdeen from 1938 to 1952. Fin (comics)
The Fin is the name of two fictional characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The Golden Age Fin has elements of both the swashbuckling pirate and superhero genres. Publication history Stories about the first Fin initially appeared in '' Daring Mystery Comics'' #7-8, (April 1941, Jan.1942) and, in issue #9 (April 1942) as well after the title's name change to '' Comedy Comics''; The Fin was created by Bill Everett. Decades later, Rick Jones summons a simulacrum of the Fin, along with the Blazing Skull, the Patriot, and the Golden Age Angel and Vision, to aid the Avengers in '' The Avengers'' #97 (March 1972). In 2004, the Fin was revived by Marvel Comics and appeared as one of the allies of the Invaders in that team's series ''The New Invaders'' #2-3 (Nov.-Dec. 2004), #6 (March 2005), and #8-9 (May–June 2005). Peter Noble (footballer)
Peter Noble (19 August 1944 – 6 May 2017) was an English footballer who played forward. Noble began his career with Consett where he combined a career in painting and decorating with football. After an impressive season with a record breaking Consett side he was signed for nearby giants Newcastle United where he made 25 appearances. Noble signed for Swindon Town from Newcastle United in January 1968 for £8,000 and made his debut as a substitute in a 3–0 win over Walsall at the beginning of February. In the following season he scored 16 league goals and was the club's top scorer, but his main contribution was to the successful League Cup campaign. He played in every match en route to the Final. Noble scored four goals, including the extra time winner in the semi-final replay versus Burnley. He only discovered five years later that he had suffered a broken shoulder blade in that game. Peter Noble (music Promoter)
Peter Bruce Noble is an Australian entrepreneur active in the music industry for almost 50 years. He is best known as the festival director of the annual Bluesfest Byron Bay, which has been running since 1990 & that he became a partner of in 1994. The 5-day festival is now held every Easter at the Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm, just north of Byron Bay, a New South Wales beachside town. Peter Noble's significant contribution to the industry was recognised in 2014 when he was awarded The Rolling Stone Australia Award for his services to Australian Music. On Australia Day 2016, he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to live and recorded music, to tourism, and to the community.
