Peter Mühlematter
Peter Mühlematter is a Swiss handball administrator. He was born on 2 January 1945 in Bern. While working as manager for a Swiss printing machine manufacturer, he started his IHF career as member of the IHF Commission for Development and Public Relations before becoming a member and then President of the IHF Commission of Organising and Competition. Thus, by virtue of his office, he had also been a member of the IHF Council. At the IHF Congress in 2004, he was elected Secretary General of the International Handball Federation (IHF). IHF Congress
The IHF Congress is the supreme legislative body of the International Handball Federation (French: ''Fédération Internationale de Handball''), commonly known by the acronym IHF. IHF is the international governing body of handball, beach handball and wheelchair handball. The congress may be ordinary or extraordinary. Ordinary congress shall place every two years (odd years) after the IHF World Men's Handball Championship. Each congress shall determine the date and place of the following ordinary congress. IHF bodies including the President, IHF Council and IHF Executive Committee shall be elected every four years at the congress taking place the year after the Summer Olympic Games Each of the 204 members of IHF has one vote in the congress. The International Handball Federation (IHF) is the administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball. IHF is responsible for the organisation of handball's major international tournaments, notably the IHF World Men's Handball Championship, which commenced in 1938, and the IHF World Women's Handball Championship, which commenced in 1957. 2009 World Men's Handball Championship
The 2009 World Men's Handball Championship was the 21st edition of the tournament that took place in Croatia from 16 January to 1 February, in the cities of Split, Zadar, Osijek, Varaždin, Poreč, Zagreb and Pula. Croatia was selected from a group of four potential hosts which included the Czech Republic, Greece and Romania. The opening game and ceremony were held in Split, and the final game was played in Zagreb. France won the tournament after defeating Croatia in the final. Poland took the third place after winning over Denmark. Tickets for the tournament went on sale from 15 to 20 November. For the finals, ticket prices started at 700 kuna (c. €95). To promote the tournament, the Croatian National Tourist Board launched a series of presentations in the capitals of 13 participating countries. Hassan Moustafa (handball Player)
Hassan Moustafa (born 28 July 1944) is an Egyptian sports administrator and former handball player. Moustafa is the fifth and current president of International Handball Federation, and a former president of Egyptian Handball Federation. Early life and education Moustafa was born in Cairo in 1944. Moustafa studied in German College of Physical Education and Sports in Leipzig, Germany and completed a doctoral thesis on the topic: ''The administration elements of a successful mission of clubs and federation''. Handball career Moustafa devoted his life to handball. He played for the Al-Ahly Club for fifteen years and played for the Egyptian national team for ten years.
