Peter Graham (fighter)
Peter Graham (born 5 August 1975) is an Australian karateka, kickboxer, boxer and mixed martial artist. Background Originally from North Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Graham began training in Kyokushin Karate at the age of 18. Graham quickly demonstrated his talents, winning his first tournament in an under yellow belt division about half a year later. In 1999 at the age of 23, Graham won the Amateur Australian and New Zealand Open Weight Championships and soon also became the South Pacific Champion. Graham then moved to Ikebukuro in Tokyo, Japan to further hone his skills and live in a dojo. However, Graham only completed three months of this rigorous training before having to return to Australia after his brother Matthew died of a heroin overdose. Mark Hunt (born 23 March 1974) is a New Zealand former professional mixed martial artist and kickboxer. As a mixed martial artist, Hunt competed in Pride Fighting Championships (Pride FC) from 2004 until 2006, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) from 2010 until 2018. As a kickboxer, Hunt achieved success as the winner of the 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix. He is known as the "King of Walk-Offs" due to his popularization of walking away and stopping attacks before the referee officially ends the match. Background Hunt was born in South Auckland into a large Samoan family, and was a troubled child eventually leading to two jail terms for violent offending. Paul "The Sting" Slowinski (born 24 September 1980) is a Polish-Australian kickboxer, a four-time World Muay Thai Council (WMC) Muay Thai World champion and two-time K-1 World GP 2006 in Auckland and K-1 World GP 2007 in Amsterdam champion. After two years training in Amsterdam, Netherlands under Ernesto Hoost, Slowinski moved back to Adelaide in 2009 and began to teach and train out of Rikers Gym. Seidokaikan
is a traditional full contact karate derived from Kyokushin by Kazuyoshi Ishii. Seidokaikan organized the first professional full contact karate tournament named the Karate World Cup. The Karate World Cup had special extension rounds; if the judge's decision was deadlocked after an extension round, the rules then allowed face strikes with fighters donning boxing gloves (kickboxing). History In 1981, Kazuyoshi Ishii established his own style of karate, forming the International Practical Karate Federation Seidokaikan, and became the Kancho (Grandmaster) of Seidokaikan based in Osaka. It featured 10 HERO'S MMA rules fights, and 4 K-1 rules fights. The event attracted a sellout crowd of 51,930 to the Kyocera Dome Osaka, and was broadcast live across Japan on the TBS Network. The main event between Kazushi Sakuraba and Yoshihiro Akiyama was ruled to be a No Contest after it was determined that Akiyama had applied an illegal substance. K-1 World Grand Prix 2006 In Auckland
This is a list of events held and scheduled by the K-1, a Japanese kickboxing promotion. The first event, K-1 Sanctuary I, took place on March 30, 1993, at Kōrakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Since its inception, K-1 events were organized by the Fighting and Entertainment Group (FEG). Following FEG's bankruptcy, rights to the K-1 brand were acquired by the Hong Kong-based K-1 Global Holdings Limited (K-1 GHL) in 2012. In 2014, M-1 Sports Media (M-1) acquired rights to use the K-1 brand exclusively in Japan, and has since been producing events for the region under the "K-1 World GP Japan" name.
