Peta Roby is an Australian dancer and choreographer. With dance partner Jason Gilkison, she won multiple Australian national titles. Roby has also worked with Gilkison on the stage show ''Burn the Floor''. Early life Roby was born in Perth, Australia. Roby started dancing with Jason Gilkison at age of seven. During her senior year of high school, Roby and Gilkison moved to London for two months of training and returned to London for further training after graduation. Jason Gilkison
Jason Gilkison is an Australian professional ballroom dance champion and choreographer. Early life Gilkison was born in Perth, Australia. He was raised by his single mum, Kay. At age 4, he began dancing at the Perth ballroom dance studio, founded by his grandparents Sam and Ronnie Gilkison, the first of its kind in Australia. Gilkison has lived in Sydney, London, England and Los Angeles, United States. He realised he was gay when he was 16 or 17. Dance career At the age of 7 Gilkison was first paired with Peta Roby. Burn The Floor
Burn the Floor is a live dance show which has performed around the world, including on Broadway (Manhattan), Broadway in New York City and the West End of London, West End in London. Since 1997, Burn the Floor has performed in over 130 countries worldwide. The show has also featured several alumni of various international versions of ''Strictly Come Dancing'' and ''So You Think You Can Dance''. Origin On April 7, 1997, Elton John's 50th birthday party included a 10-minute performance from a group of ballroom dancers. The birthday party is credited with starting the idea for Burn the Floor. Following John's party, Australian producer Harley Medcalf spent two years developing the idea. Medcalf brought a showcase of ballroom dance to an Elton John Aids fundraiser two years later.
