The 2007 Torneo Descentralizado (known as the Copa Cable Mágico for sponsorship reasons) is the ninety-first season of Peruvian football. A total of 12 teams competed in the tournament, with Alianza Lima as the defending champion. Universidad San Martín won its first national title as it did not have to play in the season finals due to Coronel Bolognesi's poor performance in the Torneo Apertura. The 2008 Torneo Descentralizado (known as the Copa Cable Mágico for sponsorship reasons) was the ninety-second season of Peruvian football. A total of 14 teams competed in the tournament, with Universidad San Martín defending their national title. The season began on February 17, 2008 and ended on December 14, 2008. Competition modus The season was divided into two tournaments; Torneo Apertura from February to July and the Torneo Clausura from July to December. Both tournaments had the fourteen teams play a round-robin home-and-away round for a total of 26 matches in each tournament. The winner of the Torneo Apertura qualified to the 2009 Copa Libertadores group stage and was eligible to play in the season final if they finished above 8th place in the Torneo Clausura. The Estadio Campeones del 36 is a multi-use stadium in Sullana, Peru. It is used by the football team Alianza Atlético. The stadium holds 12,000 people and was built in 2000. It is a small stadium which was expanded. The venue name, ''Champions of 1936'', is misleading. No Peruvian League was actually played in 1936, as the national team was preparing itself to compete in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany. Alianza Atlético did, however, win a Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol (representing their home region, Piura) governed by the Peruvian Football Federation, and the name stuck despite not being recognized officially as national champions thereafter. Club Sporting Cristal S.A., shortened to Sporting Cristal, is a Peruvian sports club located in the city of Lima, best known for its association football, soccer team. Juan Carlos Oblitas Saba (16 February 1951 in Mollendo, Arequipa) is a retired Peruvian footballer, who is a football manager, who is nicknamed ''El Ciego'' ("The Blind One"). Oblitas was an extraordinary outside left wing forward at the national team level for Peru back in the 1970s and 1980s. The 2008 Copa Sudamericana de Clubes was the seventh edition of the Copa Sudamericana football tournament. The draw for the tournament took place on June 10, 2008 in Buenos Aires and the competition was played between July 30 and December 3. The 2008 Copa Libertadores de América was the 49th edition of the Copa Libertadores, CONMEBOL's premier annual international club tournament. This marked the first year the competition was sponsored by Spanish bank Grupo Santander, Santander. As such, the competition is officially the 2008 Copa Santander Libertadores de América for sponsorship reasons. The draw took place on December 19, 2007, in Asunción. The 2006 Copa Sudamericana de Clubes, officially the 2006 Copa Nissan Sudamericana de Clubes for sponsorship reasons, was an international football championship competition that was played by 34 teams in total, including 31 CONMEBOL teams and also three invited teams from CONCACAF. Pachuca won their first title in history after defeating Colo-Colo tying 1–1 in the first leg in Mexico, and winning 2–1 in Chile. Pachuca only lost one game in the tournament, against Colombian Deportes Tolima 2–1 in their debut. Club Sport Unión Huaral, more commonly known as Unión Huaral, is a Peru, Peruvian association football, football club, from the city of Huaral. It was founded in 1947 and currently competes in the Peruvian Tercera División. History The Club Sport Unión Huaral was founded at the initiative of a group of enthusiastic young men who, meeting at the home of Don Nicolás Pintado, decided to form the neighborhood football team under the name of Club Unión, since most of them lived on Unión Street.
