Pernille Mølgaard Hansen
Pernille Mølgaard Hansen later Kaagaard is a former Danish badminton player. In 1964 she won both the National Championship and National Under-18 Championship and followed this up with five more National titles and 34 caps for Denmark from 1965-1977. She is best known for her All England title triumph in 1970 with her mixed doubles partner Per Walsøe. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racket (sports equipment), racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net (device), net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a Yard (land), yard or on a beach; professional games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the other team's half of the court, within the set boundaries. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or ground, or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. Joke Van Beusekom
Joke van Beusekom (born 23 June 1952 in Wassenaar, South Holland) is a retired female badminton player from the Netherlands. Career Nationally, she was the most successful Dutch female player, winning a record 25 Dutch National Badminton Championships, Dutch titles and playing, between 1967 and 1983, 67 times for the Dutch team. Internationally she was most successful in women's doubles, usually partnered with Marjan Luesken (later "Ridder"), winning at the (first) European Junior Badminton Championships, European Youth Championships in 1969, the Denmark Open in 1972 and 1975, the List of Irish International champions in badminton, Irish International in 1975 (where she also won the singles title), and the Dutch Open (badminton), Dutch Open in 1977. Gillian M. Gilks (formerly Gillian Perrin, and later Gillian Goodwin; born 20 June 1950) is an English former badminton player who won numerous major titles in all three events (singles, doubles, and mixed doubles) between the late 1960s and the mid-1980s. Gilks was the first ever women's singles world number one in the first IBF world ranking release in 1978. Tall and slender in her badminton prime, with elegant, accurate strokes, Gilks is the most successful player ever in the European Badminton Championships with 12 titles, two of them in women's singles, four in women's doubles and six in mixed doubles. Imre Rietveld is a retired Dutch-born Danish badminton player who won six French Open (badminton), French Open titles between 1963 and 1967. In 1967 she married Knud Aage Nielsen, a Danish badminton player. Margaret Boxall (born 1945; later Margaret Allen) is an English retired badminton player. Personal life Boxall married to Eddie Allen, a South African badminton player on 9 August 1975 in her hometown Gosport, Hampshire. Career Boxall won the women's doubles with Susan Whetnall at the prestigious All-England Championships in both 1969 and 1970. Gudrun ( ; ) or Kriemhild ( ; ) is the wife of Sigurd/Siegfried and a major figure in Germanic heroic legend and literature. She is believed to have her origins in Ildico, last wife of Attila the Hun, and two queens of the Merovingian dynasty, Brunhilda of Austrasia and Fredegund. German Open (badminton)
The German Open is an annual badminton tournament held in Germany since 1955 (as West Germany) and organized by German Badminton Association or Deutscher Badminton Verband (DBV). The tournaments were not held in the year 1970, 1979 and 1998. Known as German Badminton Championships until 1980, the tournament was later allowed to be known as Open Championships from 1981 on. The tournament is currently sponsored by Yonex. While it does attract professional players, the event is not part of the highest levels of Badminton World Federation tournaments – being classified as a BWF Grand Prix Gold event until 2017, and a Super 300 tournament (6th level) from 2018 on.
