The 2014 elections for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives were held on November 4, 2014, with all districts being contested. The Partisan primary, primary elections were held on May 20, 2014. Republicans gained eight seats to expand their majority in the chamber over the Democrats. Background The term of office for those elected in 2014 began when the House of Representatives convened in January 2015. Pennsylvania State Representatives are elected for two-year terms, with all 203 seats up for election every two years. These were the first elections held under new maps drawn using data from the 2010 census. Maps intended for use in the 2012 Pennsylvania House of Representatives election, 2012 elections were struck down by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania due to splitting too many counties and municipalities unnecessarily. The Pennsylvania House of Representatives is the lower house of the bicameral Pennsylvania General Assembly, the legislature of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. There are 203 members, elected for two-year terms from single member districts. It is the largest full-time state legislature in the country. The New Hampshire House of Representatives is larger but only serves part-time. Qualifications Representatives must be at least 21 years of age. Bradley T. Roae ( ) (born April 6, 1967) is a Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 6th legislative district, which consists of parts of Crawford County. He was first elected in 2006. Education and early career Roae attended Gannon University, graduating in 1990. He then worked a commercial underwriter for Erie Insurance, while holding several part-time jobs early in his career, in order to pay down his student loan debts.
