Penn FC
Harrisburg City Islanders, known as Penn FC in their final season, were an American professional soccer team based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in 2003, the team most recently played in the USL Pro, the second tier of the United States soccer league system. In October 2018, the club formally announced it will not participate in the 2019 season and would have resume play in 2020 as a member of USL League One, a league in the third tier. On November 15, 2017 the team was rebranded as Penn FC. The rebrand served in conjunction with a partnership with Rush Soccer youth development program. Penn FC served Rush Soccer's professional team and the club's most important piece to their extensive network. The team played its home games at FNB Field on City Island. The team's colors were blue, black and grey corresponding to Rush Soccer's branding established in 1997. FNB Field
FNB Field is a baseball park in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on City Island (Pennsylvania), City Island in the Susquehanna River. It is the home field of the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A (baseball), Double-A Eastern League (1938–present), Eastern League affiliate of the Washington Nationals, and was the home stadium of Penn FC of the United Soccer League, USL. The original structure was built in 1987 and it was called Riverside Stadium until 2004. It has a capacity of 6,187. The ballpark received a $45 million renovation that began in 2008. 2005 United Soccer Leagues
The 2005 USL season was the first following a rebranding of two United Soccer Leagues operated leagues. The A-League and the Pro Soccer League were renamed to the USL First Division and USL Second Division, respectively. These leagues also became single table this year, ending the use of regional conferences. Ty Shipalane
Tiyiselani "Ty" Shipalane (born 5 October 1985 in Tzaneen) is a South African footballer who last played for Wake FC in USL League Two. Career College Shipalane moved from his native South Africa to the United States in 2005 to attend and play college soccer at Lindsey Wilson College, where he was the 2006 NAIA Region XI Player of the Year and a three-time All-American. During his college years Shipalane was a member of the highly successful Michigan Bucks USL Premier Development League team. With the Bucks, Shipalane scored the winning goal in the 2006 PDL championship game, lost in the final of the 2007 PDL Championship game, and won the PDL regular season title in 2008. The 2009 season is the 23rd season played by the United Soccer Leagues. Season titles will be contested by 20 professional men's clubs in the USL First Division and USL Second Division, as well as 37 professional and amateur women's clubs in the W-League and 68 professional and amateur men's teams in the USL Premier Development League. The First Division season kicked off on April 11 with the US Open Cup finalist Charleston Battery and host defending champions Vancouver Whitecaps FC playing to a scoreless tie, while the Carolina RailHawks defeated the visiting Minnesota Thunder 2–1. Dustin Bixler
Dustin Bixler (born December 21, 1982, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania) is a former American soccer player who spent his entire career with Harrisburg City Islanders. Career College Bixler attended Red Land High School and was a four-year starter at Lock Haven University, playing 71 career games and earning All-Conference honors in 2002, 2003, and 2004. He was also named to the Division II All-Northeast Region First Team in 2003 and 2004, and was voted the team's Most Valuable Player and the Conference's Athlete of the Year after his senior season. Professional Bixler turned professional when he signed with Harrisburg City Islanders of the USL Second Division in 2005. Richmond Kickers is an American professional soccer club based in Richmond, Virginia. The Kickers compete as a member of USL League One (USL1). The club was established in 1993, and began play that same year as a United States Interregional Soccer League (now USL League Two) expansion team, which at the time, was the fourth tier of soccer in the United States.
