Pedro García Díaz
Pedro García Díaz (1938–2007) was a Colombian singer, songwriter, accordionist, and lawyer. He led the vallenato group Los Universitarios, with whom he recorded the "first Bogotano album completely dedicated to vallenato singing". Biography Early life and education García was born on 19 April 1938 in Atanquez, at that time in Magdalena and now in Cesar. He was of partial Kankuamo descent. He attended school in Valledupar and the Liceo Bolívar in Bogotá. Early career and Los Universitarios At the age of 13 García wrote the merengue "Teresa", which was recorded and made successful by Bovea y sus Vallenatos. On leaving secondary school he started performing as a singer. He appeared on the radio program "Meridiano en la Costa" on Radio Santa Fe in Bogotá. Atanquez
Atanquez or San Sebastian is a Colombian town and corregimiento of Valledupar in the Department of Cesar. Atanquez is located on the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range at approximately 2,000 m over sea level. Atanquez is known for being predominantly inhabited by the Indigenous peoples in Colombia, indigenous ethnic group Kankuamos among others and mestizo groups. History Atanquez was an indigenous settlement founded according to oral tradition by a ''Mama'' (spiritual leader) named Tukaka. Francisco Zumaqué
Francisco Zumaqué Gómez (born 18 July 1945) is a Colombian musician and composer of rich Colombo-Caribbean rhythms. Defined as a contemporary musician with great part of his compositions oriented to Electroacoustic music, doing important research that contributed in the creation of new rhythms mixing traditional Colombian music with orchestral compositions. His music is considered avant-garde and refreshing, bright, flexible and with a personal worrisome of his cultural mark, all of these are reflected in several compositions that were a hit and are part of Colombian musical history.
