''Pebbles, Volume 10'' is a compilation album among the CDs in the Pebbles series. Release data This album was released on AIP Records in 1996 as #AIP-CD-5027. Despite the similar catalogue number, there is no relation between the tracks on this CD and the tracks on the corresponding LP. This represents the first appearance on CD of any of these songs. Notes on the tracks This CD begins with the opening track from the ''Pebbles, Volume 11'' LP by the mysterious Milan, in the name of The Leather Boy in this case; a second track that was not among the three Milan songs on that LP, "On the Go" is also included. "I Can't Stand this Love, Goodbye" is the outstanding, opening track on the first Pebbles CD, '' Pebbles, Volume 1'', released by ESD Records (not AIP Records) in 1989. Garage Rock
Garage rock (sometimes called garage punk or 60s punk) is a raw and energetic style of rock and roll that flourished in the mid-1960s, most notably in the United States and Canada, and has experienced a series of subsequent revivals. The style is characterized by basic chord structures played on electric guitars and other instruments, sometimes distorted through a fuzzbox, as well as often unsophisticated and occasionally aggressive lyrics and delivery. Its name derives from the perception that groups were often made up of young amateurs who rehearsed in the family garage, although many were professional. In the US and Canada, surf rock—and later the Beatles and other beat groups of the British Invasion—motivated thousands of young people to form bands between 1963 and 1968. Ravin' Blue
Ravin’ was a 1970s Canadian jazz-funk band that had a half an LP release on CBC Records and won the first Q107 homegrown contest. Performing regularly at the El Mocambo and the Isabella Tavern in Toronto, Ontario, Ravin’ achieved moderate success and helped perpetuate the careers of many of its members. Parts of their performance also included Latin-funk overtones, as exhibited on the Rick Morrison/Santana track "Aruba/Europa". Marty Morell has gone on to have a highly prolific jazz-based career. The Others were an American garage rock band formed in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, in 1964. Heavily influenced by British Invasion groups, the Others enjoyed a role as one of the most popular New England musical acts, thanks in large part to their debut single "I Can’t Stand This Love, Goodbye". The Bruthers were an American garage rock band from Pearl River, New York, active in the mid to late 1960s, and whose membership consisted the four brothers, Alf, Frank, Mike, and Joe of the Delia family. ''Pebbles'' is a compilation of US underground and garage single record releases from the mid- to late-1960s. It had a limited original release in 1978 and a more general release in 1979 (where the album was identified simply as ''Pebbles''). It was followed by several subsequent Pebbles compilations and albums (nearly 100 in all). This album is nowadays known as Pebbles, Volume 1 and was originally issued in 1978 as Pebbles, Volume One: Artyfacts from the First Punk Era, an obvious riff on '' Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era'', a similar, groundbreaking compilation from 1972. Release data The Pebbles album was originally released as an LP on Mastercharge Records in 1978 as a collaborative effort of several collectors in a limited edition of just 500 copies.
