País De Volcanes
The party País was a leftist political party in Chile founded by Alejandro Navarro, a Senator formerly a member of the MAS Region party, supporting his candidacy for President in 2017. País was presented in Santiago on 3 September 2016; on the 10th of the same month it was founded in the city of Concepción. One of its founders was Chilean senator Alejandro Navarro. Among the party's proposals was the elimination of the Chilean pensions system sistema de AFP as well as to achieve free education at all levels. It was part of the All Over Chile alliance. On 22 May 2017, the party delivered 8,500 signatures of new members from six different regions to the Central Electoral Board Servicio Electoral in order to legalise the party on those areas; at the same time, it was announced that Alejandro Navarro would run in the presidential race. Alejandro Navarro (politician)
Alejandro Navarro Brain (born 20 November 1958) is a Chilean politician who has served as a member of Parliament for the Bío-Bío Region since 1994. First as Deputy and since 2006 as Senator, in 2009 founded the Broad Social Movement (MAS in Spanish), same year that he ran for the President of the Republic post. His partner is Ana Garcia Sciaraffia and has five children. He later left MAS to form País. Early life and education Alejandro is the eldest son of Fernando Navarro, a carpenter and Lidia Brain, a housewife. From an early age ANB learnt his father’s profession, helping him with minor tasks at the house’s workshop. He also learnt how to make kites, which he would sell with his mother at the street markets. 2017 Chilean Presidential Election
General elections were held in Chile on 19 November 2017 to elect the president, all 155 members of the Chamber of Deputies, 23 of the 43 members of the Senate and 278 members of regional boards. All elected members would serve a four-year term, aside from the senators would serve for eight years. In the presidential election, former president Sebastián Piñera received a lower-than-expected 36% of the vote, nearly 14 points ahead of senator Alejandro Guillier, who was backed by the sitting administration. In the runoff election on 17 December 2017, Piñera surprised many by defeating Guillier with 54% of the vote, and turnout was two points higher than in the first round. The Maule Region (, ) is one of Chile's 16 first order administrative divisions. Its capital is Talca. The region derives its name from the Maule River which, running westward from the Andes, bisects the region and spans a basin of about 20,600 km2. The Antofagasta Region (, ) is one of Chile's sixteen first-order administrative divisions. Being the second-largest region of Chile in area, it comprises three provinces, Antofagasta, El Loa and Tocopilla.
