Pavlič Pass
The Pavlič Pass, Paulitsch Pass or Paulitsch Saddle ( sl, Pavličevo sedlo, german: Paulitschsattel) or just Pavlič (german: Paulitsch) (elevation 1338 m) is a mountain pass that connects the Slovenian municipality of Solčava in the historical region of Lower Styria with the Austrian state of Carinthia. The Seeberg highway (B 82) runs from the Austrian side through the scenic village of Bad Eisenkappel (Slovene: ) up to the border crossing Seebergsattel. Nine kilometres after Bad Eisenkappel, a road to Paulitschsattel bears left off the B 82. A short descent is followed by a very steep 6 km climb and then 1 km of undulating road to the pass and border crossing. On the Slovenian side, the ascent starts at the beginning of the scenic Logar Valley and is 7 km long. Logar Valley, Slovenia
The Logar Valley ( sl, Logarska dolina, ''Logarjeva dolina''Mišič, Franc. 1938. "O ledinskih in hišnih imenih okoli Solčave." The Slovene name for the valley is of relatively recent coinage and is derived from the Logar Farm, which in turn is derived from ''log'' (literally, 'swampy meadow'). In 1987, the valley received protected status as a landscape park encompassing . Geography The Logar Valley is a typical U-shaped glacial valley. It is divided into three parts. The lower part is named ''Log'', the middle part ''Plest'' or ''Plestje'' (it is a mostly wooded area), and the upper part ''Kot'' (literally 'cirque') or ''Ogradec'' (it is a wooded area with scree slopes). Carinthia (province)
Carinthia ( sl, Koroška ; german: Kärnten), also Slovene Carinthia or Slovenian Carinthia (''Slovenska Koroška''), is a traditional region in northern Slovenia. The term refers to the small southeasternmost area of the former Duchy of Carinthia, which after World War I was allocated to the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs according to the 1919 Treaty of Saint-Germain. List Of Highest Paved Roads In Europe
This is a list of the highest paved roads in Europe. It includes roads that are over long and whose culminating point is at least above sea level. This height approximately corresponds to that of the highest settlements in Europe and to the tree line in several mountain ranges such as the Alps and the Pyrenees, where most of the highest roads are located. Some of the listed roads are closed to motorized vehicles, although they are normally all accessible to pedestrians and cyclists. These mountain roads are visited by drivers, motorcyclists, bicyclists and hikers for their scenery and often feature in the routes of European bicycle races such as the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de Suisse, the Tour of Austria, the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España. Seebergsattel
Seeberg Saddle (german: Seebergsattel, sl, Jezerski vrh), also just Seeberg (''Jezersko'') is a high mountain pass connecting Bad Eisenkappel in the Austrian state of Carinthia with Jezersko in the Slovenian region of Carinthia. It is located in the Southern Limestone Alps, between the Karawanks range in the west and the Kamnik–Savinja Alps in the east. The road across the pass is probably of Roman origin, leading from the Drava valley in the Noricum province towards the city of Aquileia. The border at the summit was implemented after the dissolution of Austria-Hungary by the 1919 Treaty of Saint-Germain. Today the Seeberg Highway (B 82) heads from the Austrian side up to the border crossing on the pass. Directly behind the Slovenian border station is an inn. On the Slovenian side, the state road No. 210 descends from the Seeberg down to Jezersko, offering a panoramic view of the Kamnik Alps.
