Miss Portugal is the oldest national pageant in Portugal since 1926. The main winner will represent the country at Miss Universe pageant. History Miss Portugal started in 1926 with Margarida Bastos Ferreira. Began 1960 the organization took a part at Miss Universe, the runners-up went to Miss World and Miss International and occasionally a candidate sent to Miss Europe beauty pageant. RTP - Rádio e Televisão de Portugal made the organization run for Portuguese Beauty pageant in Portugal for long time and from RTP, a second runner-up of Miss Portugal 1996 Fernanda Alves earned Portugal's first Miss International crown. In 2002, the pageant ended the production and no more Portuguese at Miss Universe pageant. A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the Physical attractiveness, physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of Personality psychology, personality, intelligence, Aptitude, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. Miss Universe 2019 was the 68th Miss Universe pageant, held at the Stage 1 of the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia, United States on 8 December 2019. Miss Universe 2020 was the 69th Miss Universe pageant, held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, United States on May 16, 2021.
