Patrick Smith (journalist)
Patrick Smith is an Australian sports journalist and Walkley award recipient. He is noted for his pieces in ''The Australian'' newspapers' sports section. Smith started his journalism career in 1972 with Melbourne's Sun as a copyboy, before moving to ''The Age'' in 1976. There he was promoted from sport sub to deputy sports editor, and then to sports editor which he remained for six years. In 1993 he was a senior columnist for ''The Age,'' leaving for ''The Australian'' in 2000. He also appears on '' Hungry for Sport'' with Kevin Bartlett on SEN 1116. Kevin Bartlett has not been on SEN for over a year and Smith no longer contributes to that station. He writes pieces on political issues in sport, including the internal workings of Australian rules football, Cricket and Athletics Australia. Great Paxton
Great Paxton is a village and civil parish in Cambridgeshire, England lying north of St Neots in the Great Ouse river valley. The population was 1,007 in the 2011 census. Despite its name, Great Paxton is much smaller than the neighbouring village of Little Paxton. Patrick Smith (August 28, 1963 – June 18, 2019) was an American Kickboxer and mixed martial artist. He started his mixed martial arts career by participating in the first two Ultimate Fighting Championship events. He was a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and also held a black belt in Hapkido, American Kenpo, and Tang Soo Do. In 1993, Smith was ranked No. 1 as a Super Heavyweight Kickboxer in the United States and held a ranking of No. 5 internationally. He was the 1993 Enshin Karate Sabaki Challenge Heavyweight champion, an annual full contact karate tournament held in Denver which allows grabs, sweeps and throws, and competed in the 1993 Seidokaikan full contact Karate World Cup tournament in Japan. Patrick Smith (17 July 1901 – 18 March 1982) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician, who served as a Teachta Dála from 1923 until 1977; a tenure of 53 years, the longest in the state. He held a number of ministerial positions within the governments of Éamon de Valera and Seán Lemass. Early life Smith was born in the town of Bailieborough, County Cavan, the eighth and youngest child of Terence Smith, a farmer, and Ellen Smith (née MacManus). He joined the Irish Republican Brotherhood, he took a small role in the Easter Rising of 1916. By 1920, he was involved with the Irish Republican Army and was one of its youngest commandants, at the age of 19. He was captured by British forces in 1921, along with Seán Moylan, who would go on to become a government colleague. He was interned, put on trial for treason but he was spared after a truce was called between the British Army and the IRA during the Irish War of Independence. Patrick Smith (born 1972 in San Juan, Puerto Rico) is an installation artist, animator and filmmaker. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). His formative years were spent as a storyboard artist for Walt Disney, and animation director for MTV's ''Daria'' and the Emmy-nominated ''Downtown.'' Patrick Henry Smith (September 29, 1827 – January 22, 1884) was an American businessperson and politician. Born in Royalton, Vermont, Smith moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin Territory in 1847. He then settled permanently in Plymouth, Wisconsin in 1848 where he was a merchant. From 1853 to 1857, Smith served as postmaster of Plymouth, Wisconsin. In 1860, Smith was appointed deputy United States marshal. Smith was the first town clerk of Plymouth, Wisconsin and was a Democrat. He served on the Plymouth Common Council and was president of the common council.
