Patrick D’Rozario
Patrick D'Rozario, Congregation of Holy Cross, CSC (; born 1 October 1943) is a Bangladeshi prelate of the Catholic Church who was Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dhaka, Archbishop of Dhaka from 2011 to 2020. Pope Francis appointed him as a Cardinal (Catholic Church), cardinal in 2016. Patrick D'Rozario is the very first Roman Catholic cardinal from Bangladesh. He led other dioceses in Bangladesh from 1995 to 2010. Biography Patrick D'Rozario was born on 1 October 1943 in Padrishibpur, Barisal, British India (now part of Bangladesh). He took his vows as a member of the Congregation of Holy Cross on 14 June 1962 and was ordained a priest by the Servant of God Archbishop Theotonius Amal Ganguly on 8 October 1972. Bishop James Romen Boiragi is a Bangladeshi Roman Catholic bishop serving as bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Khulna, Bangladesh. Early life James was born on 3 May 1955 at Haldibunia, Bagerhat district, Bangladesh. Notre Dame College, Dhaka (), also known as NDC, is a catholic higher secondary and degree level educational institution founded and managed by the priests of the Congregation of Holy Cross located in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Upon the invitation of the then East Pakistan government after the partition of India, St. Gregory's College was founded on 3 November 1949, as an expanded iteration of St. Gregory's High School in Laxmibazar, Dhaka. Theotonious Amal Ganguly, CSC, (18 January 1920, in Hashnabad, Bangladesh – 2 September 1977) was Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Dhaka from 1967 until his death on 2 September 1977. Archbishop Ganguly was a religious of the Congregation of Holy Cross. Career The local bishop sent him to the major seminary, called St. Albert's Seminary, run by the Jesuit Fathers at Ranchi of Bihar State, India. As usual, he was liked and appreciated by both the professors and seminarians for his studies and humble behaviour.
