Patricia Nell Scott Schroeder (July 30, 1940 – March 13, 2023) was an American politician who represented Colorado's 1st congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 1973 to 1997. A member of the Democratic Party, Schroeder was the first female U.S. Representative elected from Colorado and ran for president in 1988. Early years Patricia Nell Scott was born on July 30, 1940, in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of Bernice (Scott), a first-grade teacher, and Lee Combs Scott, a pilot who owned an aviation insurance company. She moved to Des Moines, Iowa, with her family as a child, and earned her airman certificate when she was fifteen. After graduating from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1958, she left Des Moines and attended the University of Minnesota, where she majored in history. Schroeder was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Patricia D. "Pat" Scott (died January 7, 2001) was an American politician who served as a member of the Washington House of Representatives from 1984 to 2001. First appointed to office upon the resignation of John Martinis, she represented Washington's 28th legislative district as a Democrat for 17 years until her death in 2001. Her death, along with the surprise resignation of Republican Renee Radcliff, set up two special elections for seats in Snohomish County. Patricia Scott is a senior Australian public servant and policymaker. In her time as Secretary of the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy she was responsible for rolling out the first stages of the Australian Government's $40-plus billion National Broadband Network. Public service career Scott joined the Australian Public Service in 1990. John Howard appointed Patricia Scott as Secretary of the new Department of Human Services in 2004. She was instrumental establishing the new department. In May 2007 Scott was appointed to lead the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts. Patricia "Pat" Scott (July 14, 1929 – October 19, 2016) was a pitcher who played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League for parts of four seasons spanning 1948–1953. Listed at , 155 lb., she batted and threw right-handed. A solid finesse pitcher, Scott had one of the best overhand deliveries during the last six years of the league. She guided the Fort Wayne Daisies to three consecutive pennants from 1951 to 1953, averaging 16 wins in each of them, while recording career best numbers in ERA (2.46), WHIP (0.87) and SO/BB (1.07).
