Pastebin
A pastebin or text storage site is a type of online content-hosting service where users can store plain text (e.g. source code snippets for code review via Internet Relay Chat (IRC)). The most famous pastebin is the eponymous pastebin.com. Other sites with the same functionality have appeared, and several open source pastebin scripts are available. Pastebins may allow commenting where readers can post feedback directly on the page. GitHub Gists are a type of pastebin with version control. History Pastebin was developed in the late 1990s to facilitate IRC chatrooms devoted to computing, where users naturally need to share large blocks of computer input or output in a line-oriented medium. PrivateBin
PrivateBin is a self-hosted and open-source pastebin software that deletes pasted text after a visit. It can be configured to not delete the paste after first view, at which point there is an option of commenting and replying to the paste, like in a forum. All pastes on PrivateBin are encrypted with a password. The encryption is both during transport and at rest. PrivateBin was forked from ZeroBin. Doxbin is a pastebin used to post or leak personal data (often referred to as ''doxing'') of any person of interest. Operators In 2019, Brian Krebs reported that, "The individual who appears to maintain the Doxbin... stated that he also was responsible for maintaining SiegeCulture, a white supremacist website that glorifies the writings of neo-Nazi James Mason". In July 2020, John William Kirby Kelley, who was involved in a neo-Nazi swatting conspiracy and a group associated with a neo-Nazi terrorist network known as Atomwaffen Division, as well as the Deadnet IRC channel and its participants, were linked to the group that maintains Doxbin. In computing, plain text is a loose term for data (e.g. file contents) that represent only characters of readable material but not its graphical representation nor other objects ( floating-point numbers, images, etc.).
