Paradise, Missouri
Paradise is an unincorporated community in northwest Clay County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community lies between the two arms of the Smithville Lake on the Little Platte River. The city of Smithville lies across the lake to the southwest. The community is located along Missouri Route W about four miles southeast of Trimble in adjacent Clinton County. History In 1832, the US Government deeded of land at this location to Mr. Pleasant Gentry. The land was sold in 1850 to John Gosney, who surveyed the land. The developing town was named "Gosneyville". Gosneyville was renamed "Paradise" ''circa'' 1884. A post office called Paradise was established in 1858, and remained in operation until 1907. The community was so named for the many churches in town relative to its small size. In popular culture Paradise was featured in the 1998 film ''The Dentist 2''. Trimble is a city in southwestern Clinton County, Missouri and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area within the United States. The population was 573 at the 2020 census. History Trimble was named after J. M. Trimble, a railroad official. Little Platte River
The Little Platte River is a stream in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of Platte River and is 66.4 miles long, which makes it its second longest tributary. The river is the primary inflow for Smithville Lake and is its outflow before joining the Platte River. The stream is monitored at two locations, at Smithville. and just upstream from Plattsburg. The Little Platte River headwaters in southern Dekalb County just south of Pony Express Lake and flows southerly across US Highway 36 and west of Osborn. After traveling south through half of Clinton, it flows through the Hartell Conservation Area before crossing Missouri Route 116 and entering Plattsburg.
