Pappo
Norberto Aníbal Napolitano (10 March 1950 – 25 February 2005), popularly known as Pappo, was an Argentine rock musician, guitarist, singer and songwriter. One of the most influential figures in Argentine music, he was a forerunner of Argentine rock, heavy metal and blues. He is considered by various Argentine musicians, by the public and by the specialized press as the best guitarist in the history of Argentine rock, while B. B. King considered him one of the best guitarists of all time. He was a member of popular Argentine rock bands such as Los Abuelos de la Nada, Engranaje, Los Gatos and Billy Bond y La Pesada del Rock and Roll. He also founded the blues rock band Pappo's Blues; the hard rock band Aeroblus, in the 1970s; and the heavy metal band Riff in the 1980s. Riff (Argentine Band)
Riff was an Argentine hard rock band formed in Buenos Aires in 1980. The band was fronted by guitarist Pappo, Norberto "Pappo" Napolitano, who formed Riff after dissolving his old musical project, Pappo's Blues. The group was mostly influenced by acts like AC/DC, Motörhead, Saxon (band), Saxon, and the new wave of British heavy metal scene, who helped introduce heavy metal music in Argentina in the early 80s. The group dissolved after the death of Pappo in 2005. Los Gatos (band)
Los Gatos (Spanish for "the Cats") were an Argentine rock group of the late 1960s, founded in the wake of an earlier group, Los Gatos Salvajes, who shared two of the same members. They are considered part of the founding trinity of Spanish-language rock in Argentina, along with Almendra and Manal. The unexpected success of their 1967 debut single " La balsa" was the kickstarter of Argentine rock, and pioneered Spanish-language rock. They explored psychedelic rock and their later recordings with Pappo are an early example of progressive rock, before splitting in 1970. Los Gatos reunited for a tour in 2007. Los Abuelos De La Nada
Los Abuelos de la Nada were an Argentine rock band formed in Buenos Aires in 1967. The group underwent several incarnations throughout its history, with all of them led by its founder and frontman, singer-songwriter Miguel Abuelo. The group produced numerous hit singles in the 1980s as "Sin Gamulán", " Costumbres argentinas", " Mil horas", "Himno de mi corazón", "Lunes por la madrugada" and "No te enamores nunca de aquel marinero bengalí". Argentine Heavy Metal
The Argentine heavy metal is a heavy metal music movement that originated in Argentina in the 1980s. The first popular artist was Pappo, who created the band Riff influenced by the contemporary new wave of British heavy metal. V8 was formed at that time as well, and most of its members created notable bands after their respective departures from the band: Ricardo Iorio and Walter Giardino, currently in Almafuerte and Rata Blanca, are still popular. The second half of the 1980s saw the success of hard rock bands such as Kamikaze, Alakran and Rata Blanca, with an aesthetic similar to the contemporary glam metal. Thrash metal bands, such as Hermética, Horcas and Lethal, appeared in the late 80s and early 90s. Rata Blanca declined its popularity in the 1990s and eventually broke up. Billy Bond y La Pesada del Rock and Roll (also known as La Pesada del Rock and Roll or La Pesada) was an Argentina, Argentine Supergroup (music), supergroup that pioneered hard rock and psychedelic rock in Latin America. It was formed in 1970 by producer Jorge Álvarez (producer), Jorge Álvarez (co-founder of the record label) and singer and producer , who would become the band's leader. Argentine rock (known locally as ''rock nacional'' , "national rock" in the sense of "local", "not international") is rock music composed or performed by Argentina, Argentine bands or artists mostly in Spanish. Argentine rock was the earliest incarnation of Spanish-language rock. It began by recycling hits of English-language rock & roll. Manal
Manal was an Argentine rock group formed in 1968. Together with Almendra and Los Gatos, they are considered founders of Argentine rock. The band members were Claudio Gabis on guitar, Javier Martínez on drums and vocals, and Alejandro Medina on bass and vocals. Martínez was the band's lead vocalist and leading songwriter. Trajectory 1968–1969: Formation The band grew out of the mythic ''"La Cueva"'' club. Martínez was a regular, and Gabis played guitar with several bands, including Miguel Abuelo's ''Los Abuelos''. ''Hasta que se ponga el sol'' ( Spanish for "Until the sun sets") is 1973 Argentine documentary film of the foundational stage of the '' rock nacional'' (Spanish for "national rock") movement. It was filmed in the third edition of the historic B.A. Rock rock festival, which took place in 1972 at the Argentinos Juniors stadium. It was also completed with filming in Teatro Olimpia and the film studios of Argentina Sono Film and Phonalex. McKinley Morganfield (April 4, 1913April 30, 1983), better known as Muddy Waters, was an American blues singer-songwriter and musician who was an important figure in the post-World War II blues scene, and is often cited as the "father of modern Chicago blues". Freddie King
Freddie King (born Fred Christian; September 3, 1934December 28, 1976), also billed as Freddy King, was an American blues guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is considered one of the "Three Kings of the Blues Guitar" (along with Albert King and B. B. King, none of whom was a blood relative). Known for his soulful and powerful voice and distinctive guitar playing, King had a major influence on electric blues music and on many later blues guitarists.
