Panama is an unincorporated community in northern Vernon County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is on Missouri Route TT adjacent to the east side of US Route 71. The Vernon-Bates county line is one half mile north. Rich Hill is 3.5 miles north and Nevada is 13 miles south. The Four Rivers Conservation Area on the Little Osage River is two miles south. Vernon County is a County (United States), county located in the western region of the U.S. state of Missouri, on the border with Kansas. As of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, the population was 19,707. Its county seat is Nevada, Missouri, Nevada. The county was organized on February 27, 1855, considerably later than counties in the eastern part of the state. It was named for Colonel Miles Vernon (1786–1867), a state senator and veteran of the Battle of New Orleans. U.S. Route 71 or U.S. Highway 71 (US 71) is a major north–south United States highway that extends for over 1500 miles (2500 km) in the central United States. This original 1926 route has remained largely unchanged by encroaching Interstate highways. Rich Hill, Missouri
Rich Hill is a city in southern Bates County, Missouri, and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area within the United States. The population was 1,232 at the 2020 census. History Rich Hill was platted in 1880. The city was named in 1871 by C.W. Ratekin and used the slogan "The Town That Coal Built". The town experienced a rapid population expansion during the late 1800s, until mining efforts began to decline and eventually ended in 1906.
