Paloma Gómez Borrero
María Paloma Gómez Borrero (18 August 1934 – 24 March 2017) was a Spanish journalist and writer. In 1976, she became the second female television foreign correspondents from Spain, when appointed correspondent in Italy and the Vatican for Televisión Española (TVE). Gómez Borrero received the Iris Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Spanish Television Academy in 2016. Biography Gómez Borrero was a descendant, by maternal line, of Juan Álvarez Mendizábal. Her maternal grandfather, , had a prominent role with the Isabelino troops during the Carlist Wars. She began her studies at the Deutsche Schule Madrid, and during the summers she had the opportunity to visit France, the United Kingdom, and Germany, thanks to a scholarship program. The Most Excellent
The Most Excellent ( (male) or (female), literally "Most Excellent Lord/Lady") is an honorific prefix that is traditionally applied to certain people in Spain and certain Spanish-speaking countries. Following Spanish tradition, it is an '' ex officio'' style (the holder has it as long as they remain in office, in the most important positions of state) and is used in written documents and very formal occasions. The prefix is similar (but not equal) to that of " His/Her Excellency", but in the 19th century "The Most Excellent" began to replace the former. The Iris Awards (), known until 2011 as ATV Awards ( / ), are television awards given by the Spanish Academy of Television and Audiovisual Arts and Sciences (Spain), Academy of Television and Audiovisual Arts and Sciences. Pope John Paul II
Pope John Paul II (born Karol Józef Wojtyła; 18 May 19202 April 2005) was head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State from 16 October 1978 until Death and funeral of Pope John Paul II, his death in 2005. Federico Mompou
Frederic Mompou Dencausse (), or Federico Mompou (16 April 1893 – 30 June 1987), was a Spanish composer and pianist. Life Early years Mompou was born in Barcelona to the lawyer Frederic Mompou and his wife, Josefina Dencausse, who was of French origin. His brother Josep Mompou (1888–1968) became a painter. His sketch of a simple farmhouse appeared on the covers of all of Frederic's published music. Mompou studied piano under Pedro Serra at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu before going to Paris to study at the Conservatoire de Paris, which was headed by Gabriel Fauré. Juan Del Encina
Juan del Encina (12 July 1468 – 1529/1530) was a Spanish composer, poet, priest, and playwright, often credited as the joint-father (even "founder" or "patriarch") of Spanish drama, alongside Gil Vicente. His birth name was Juan de Fermoselle. He spelled his name Enzina, but this is not a significant difference; it is two spellings of the same sound, in a time when "correct spelling" as we know it barely existed.
