Painted Hills, Indiana
Painted Hills is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jackson Township, Morgan County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. Its population was 766 as of the 2020 census, up from 677 in 2010. The community is located on the shores of Lake Holiday and Lake Nebo southeast of Martinsville, the Morgan county seat. The two lakes are a combined in size. Geography Painted Hills is located in southeastern Morgan County. Indiana State Road 252 forms the northeast border of the community, leading northwest to Martinsville and southeast the same distance to Morgantown. State Road 252 (SR 252) in the U.S. state of Indiana consists of two segments. The western stretch runs from Interstate 69 in Martinsville to Interstate 65 near Edinburgh. The eastern stretch is from U.S. Route 52/ State Road 1 in Brookville to the Ohio state line near Scipio, Ohio. Route description Western section The western section heads southeast from Martinsville. SR 252 heads southeast until Morgantown where it turns northeast towards Trafalgar.
