Pacific Street is the debut album by British band The Pale Fountains. The CD version of the LP contains the first 11 tracks plus 4 bonus songs: "Thank You", "Meadow of Love", "Palm of My Hand" and "Love's a Beautiful Place". ''Pacific Street'' features an acoustic sound, with trumpet and flute, influenced by Burt Bacharach, Love and Bossa nova in the context of melodic pop songs. The band would record one more album before splitting and Head would re-emerge a few years later fronting Shack. The Pale Fountains
The Pale Fountains were an English band formed in Liverpool in 1980, and composed of Mick Head (vocalist/guitarist), Chris McCaffery (bassist), Thomas Whelan (drummer), trumpet player Andy Diagram (French horn, horns) and Ken Moss (guitarist). Diagram was simultaneously a member of Dislocation Dance for most of the Pale Fountains' existence. Career Inspired by 1960s music such as Love (band), Love, Burt Bacharach and the Beatles, the group released their debut single "(There's Always) Something on My Mind" on Les Disques du Crépuscule before signing a major label deal in October 1982. Although the Pale Fountains failed to make much commercial headway, the band would earn critical praise for the two albums released on Virgin Records, Virgin, ''Pacific Street'' (1984) and ''...From Across the Kitchen Table'' (1985), record producer, produced by Ian Broudie, who later found fame with the Lightning Seeds. Ridge Farm Studios
Ridge Farm Studio was one of the earliest residential recording studios in the United Kingdom. The studio operated for over twenty-five years and had artists, musicians, and producers from all over the world record and produce music there. The studio was established in 1975 by Frank Andrews, a lighting technician who had toured across the UK with bands such as Queen, ABBA, and the Rolling Stones. Andrews returned home from tour to discover his parents had moved to a different place, which is where Ridge Farm Studio was born. He started the studio with his brother, Billy, as a quiet place for bands to rehearse. Ridge Farm Studio did well enough that Andrews was eventually able to buy the property from his parents. It remained a popular location well into the 1990s, after the surge of Britpop. However, bookings eventually dwindled. Joe Jackson was the last person to record there in 2002. Love is an American rock music, rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965. Led by Arthur Lee (musician), Arthur Lee, the band's primary songwriter, they were one of the first racially diverse American rock bands. Mick Head
Michael William Head (born 24 November 1961) is an English singer-songwriter and musician from Liverpool, England. He is most famous as the lead singer and songwriter for Shack and the Pale Fountains, both of which also feature his younger brother John Head. Though the bands never achieved mainstream success, they have a strong following and ''NME'' have described him as "a lost genius and among the most gifted British songwriters of his generation." The Pale Fountains Head first gained attention as a member of the Pale Fountains in the early 1980s with his best friend Chris "Biffa" McCaffrey. The band suffered from critical and commercial apathy, and the band split around 1987. Shortly afterwards, McCaffrey died from a brain tumour. Andy Diagram (born 1959 in London) is a British musician and trumpet player. He has worked with the instrument in a variety of bands and contexts ranging from pop and rock to experimental jazz, art rock and dance music. He is best known for his work with James (having been a member from 1989 to 1992 during the band's popular peak in the UK, and rejoining for the ongoing band reformation in 2007), with Spaceheads and with the Pere Ubu singer David Thomas.
