Pablo Pérez Álvarez
Pablo Martín Pérez Álvarez (August 19, 1969 in Maracaibo) is a Venezuelan lawyer, politician and former Governor of Zulia State. Biography Studies In 1986 he graduated from secondary school with a diploma in Humanities. Pérez Álvarez enrolled at University of Zulia to study law. Later he did postgraduate studies in Public Law at the same university. Pérez Álvarez also studied ''Gerencia Municipal'' (municipal management) at Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración (IESA), a Venezuelan higher education institute of management. Political career In 1995 he began to work with Manuel Rosales, the mayor of Maracaibo. Pablo Pérez was in charge of the Legal Consultancy of the City Council and was a member of some commissions. Manuel Rosales
Manuel Antonio Rosales Guerrero (born 12 December 1952, in Santa Bárbara del Zulia) is a Venezuelan educator and politician, current governor of Zulia. He was the most prominent Venezuelan opposition candidate in the 2006 Venezuelan presidential election, 2006 presidential election, losing to incumbent Hugo Chávez. He served as a congressman, mayor, and governor, but in April 2009, stepped down as Mayor of Maracaibo when he was charged with corruption in Venezuela and fled to Peru. Rosales denies the charges, and was granted political asylum in Peru. 2008 Venezuelan Regional Elections
Regional elections were held in Venezuela on 23 November 2008 to choose 22 governors and 2 metropolitan mayors. The candidates were selected for a term beginning in 2008 and ending in 2012, when the next regional elections will be held. The 2008 regional elections were the second during the government of Hugo Chávez Frías and the first since he founded the United Socialist Party. The government of the state of Amazonas and nine municipalities were not chosen in this elections because they had been elected after the 2004 regional elections. Gian Carlo Di Martino Tarquinio is a Venezuelan politician and lawyer who is a former mayor of the city of Maracaibo, Venezuela's second largest city. Biography Di Martino was born on July 12, 1964, in Maracaibo, the son of Italian immigrants. He received a bachelor's degree in political sciences at the Rafael Urdaneta University in 1987. In 1991, he received a diploma in international diplomacy from the Central University of Venezuela. In 1993, he graduated as a lawyer at the Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas. In 1997, he was director of the Sabaneta jail in Maracaibo and general director of the foreign affairs office of Zulia. Two years later, he became alderman of the city. Francisco Arias Cárdenas
Francisco Javier Arias Cárdenas (born 20 November 1950) is a Venezuelan politician and career military officer, and was the governor of Zulia state. He participated in Hugo Chávez's unsuccessful February 1992 coup attempt, being pardoned in 1994 by Rafael Caldera, along with the other conspirators. He was elected Governor of Zulia state in 1995 for the Radical Cause, and challenged Hugo Chávez for the presidency in 2000. He subsequently served as Venezuelan Ambassador to the UN, and deputy to the National Assembly after the 2010 parliamentary elections.
