Pablo Márquez (guitarist)
Pablo Márquez (Born 1967) is an Argentinean guitarist. Born in Argentina, he is best known for his interpretations of historical classical works as well as his performances of Argentinean traditional music. He is also a professor at the Musik-Akademie of Basel. Early life and education Márquez started his guitar studies at the age of 10 and gave his first performance three years later with an orchestra in Salta, north-western Argentina, where he grew up and received his first training. Márquez then studied in Buenos Aires with Jorge Martínez Zárate and Eduardo Fernández. He won first prizes at the Villa-Lobos and Radio France international competitions in Rio de Janeiro and Paris respectively. He won later prizes at competitions in Geneva and Munich. As a musician, Márquez studied conducting with Eric Sobzyck, Rodolfo Fischer and Peter Eötvös, and followed the teaching of pianist György Sebők. Classical Guitar
The classical guitar, also known as Spanish guitar, is a member of the guitar family used in classical music and other styles. An acoustic wooden string (music), string instrument with strings made of catgut, gut or nylon, it is a precursor of the modern steel-string acoustic guitar, steel-string acoustic and electric guitars, both of which use metal string (music), strings. Classical guitars derive from instruments such as the lute, the vihuela, the gittern (the name being a derivative of the Greek "kithara"), which evolved into the Renaissance guitar and into the 17th and 18th-century baroque guitar. Naïve Records is a French independent record label based in Paris, specializing in electronic music, pop music, jazz and classical music. Founding and expansion It was founded in 1998 by Patrick Zelnik, former CEO of Virgin France, Gilles Paires and Eric Tong Cuong. ECM New Series
ECM (Edition of Contemporary Music) is an independent record label founded by Karl Egger, Manfred Eicher and Manfred Scheffner in Munich in 1969. While ECM is best known for jazz music, the label has released a variety of recordings, and ECM's artists often refuse to acknowledge boundaries between genres. Fabián Panisello (, , born 11 October 1963) is an Argentinian-Spanish composer, conductor, and professor. Professional life Panisello was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He studied composition in Buenos Aires with Francisco Kröpfl and at the Mozarteum of Salzburg with Bogusław Schaeffer (Magister Atrium, 1993, Diploma of Excellence and Special Prize of the Ministry of Culture of Austria). Lorraine Vaillancourt
Lorraine Vaillancourt, (born September 23, 1947) is a Canadian pianist and conductor living in Quebec. She was born in Arvida, Quebec and studied with Hélène Landry at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Québec and with Pierre Dervaux at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. Vaillancourt studied piano with Yvonne Loriod and Anne-Marie de Lavilléon-Verdier; she studied ondes Martenot with Jeanne Loriod. In 1970 she returned to the University of Montreal with the intention to learn from Serge Garant. In 1971, Vaillancourt joined the faculty of music at the University of Montreal. Susanna Ulla Marjukka Mälkki (born 13 March 1969) is a Finnish conductor and cellist. Early life and education Mälkki was born on 13 March 1969 in Helsinki. She began to learn the violin, piano, and cello in her youth, eventually focusing her studies on the cello. She continued her cello studies with Hannu Kiiski, and later studied conducting with Jorma Panula, Eri Klas, and Leif Segerstam at the Sibelius Academy. She also studied at London's Royal Academy of Music. She participated in a Sibelius Academy Conductor's Workshop at Carnegie Hall in 1998, under the supervision of Panula and Esa-Pekka Salonen. Josep Pons
Josep Pons (born Josep Pons i Viladomat; 1957) is a Spanish conductor. Biography Pons was born in Puig-reig, Berguedà. He received his musical training at L'Escolania de Montserrat and continued his musical studies in Barcelona with such teachers as Josep Soler i Sardà (composition) and Antoni Ros-Marbà (conducting). In 1985, Pons founded the ''Orquestra de Cambra Teatre Lliure'' (Chamber Orchestra of the Teatre Lliure). He directed the Coral Càrmina from 1988 to 1990.
