The Canada Soccer National Development Centre and Canada Soccer EXCEL programs are full-time women's soccer development programs run by the Canadian Soccer Association in partnership with the various provincial associations to develop Canadian women's soccer players as part of the Canadian women's soccer pathway. There are three National Development Centres in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia and Regional EXCEL programs in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The four National Development Centres enter teams in each of the four regions of Canada's tier 3 League1 Canada leagues: League1 Ontario (women), League1 Ontario, League1 British Columbia, Ligue1 Québec (women), Ligue1 Québec, and League1 Alberta. League1 Ontario (women)
League1 Ontario (L1O or L1ON) is a semi-professional women's association football, soccer league in Ontario, Canada. The league is sanctioned by the Canadian Soccer Association and the Ontario Soccer Association as a pro-am league in the Canadian soccer league system. League1 Ontario is a part of League1 Canada, the national third tier with regional divisions, with L1O equivalents in League1 Alberta, Alberta, League1 British Columbia, British Columbia, and Ligue1 Québec, Quebec. The women's division launched in 2015 with seven clubs and has grown to twenty clubs for the 2022 season. Beginning in 2024, the league will become a three-tier league featuring promotion and relegation.
