Oued Sous
The Sous River, Sus River or Souss River ( Berber: Asif en Sus, Arabic: واد سوس) is a river in mid-southern Morocco located in the Sous region. It originates in the High Atlas and flows west passing Aoulouz, Taroudannt, Oulad Teima, Inezgane and Aït Melloul. It forms a basin which is protected from the desertic climate of the Sahara by the Anti-Atlas mountains and is one of Morocco's most fertile regions. The Aoulouz Dam is the main dam on this river. Taroudannt
Taroudant (; ar, تارودانت, Latn, ar, tārūdānt, ) is a city in the Sous Valley in south western Morocco. It is situated east of Agadir on the road to Ouarzazate and the Sahara desert and south of Marrakesh. The town is known as the "Grandmother of Marrakech" because it looks like a smaller Marrakech with its surrounding ramparts. In the 16th century, the Saadi dynasty briefly used Taroudant as a capital before it moved its royal seat onwards to Marrakesh. Today, the city has the feel of a small fortified market town on a caravan route. Taroudant is known for its local crafts, including jewellery and carpets. Unlike Marrakesh, almost the entire city of Taroudant is located inside its walls. Ait Melloul
An ait (, like ''eight'') or eyot () is a small island. It is especially used to refer to river islands found on the River Thames and its tributaries in England. Aits are typically formed by the deposit of sediment in the water, which accumulates. An ait is characteristically long and narrow, and may become a permanent island should it become secured and protected by growing vegetation. However, aits may also be eroded: the resulting sediment is deposited further downstream and could result in another ait. A channel with numerous aits is called a braided channel. Inezgan
Inezgane (; ) is the capital of Inezgane-Aït Melloul Prefecture located on the north bank of the Sous River, about south of Agadir, on the Atlantic Ocean coast of Morocco. It is in some ways a suburb to the larger Agadir, but unlike the tourism-centered Agadir, Inezgane is a typical Moroccan/Berber city. Located where the N1, N8 and N10 highways meet, Inezgane is an important transport hub in the region of Souss-Massa. Inezgane is well known for its souks and silver jewellery, as well as for its vegetable, fruit, and spice market. Tuesday is the main market day, when people come from all the villages nearby to sell their goods and buy provisions for the week. The Anti-Atlas ( ar, الأطلس الصغير, shi, Aṭlas Mẓẓiyn), also known as Lesser Atlas or Little Atlas is a mountain range in Morocco, a part of the Atlas Mountains in the northwest of Africa. Aït Melloul
Aït Melloul (; ar, أيت ملول) is a city on the west coast of Morocco. It is located in the suburban area of Agadir just southeast of Inezgane, on the southern bank of the Sous River. According to the 2014 population census, the city is home to 171,847 inhabitants and 39,697 households. The city is part of the Inezgane-Aït Melloul prefecture in the administrative subdivision of Ait Melloul. High Atlas
High Atlas, also called the Grand Atlas ( ar, الأطلس الكبير, Al-Aṭlas al-Kabīr; french: Haut Atlas; shi, ⴰⴷⵔⴰⵔ ⵏ ⴷⵔⵏ ''Adrar n Dern''), is a mountain range in central Morocco, North Africa, the highest part of the Atlas Mountains. Oulad Teima
Oulad Teima also known as Houara ( Berber: ⵡⵍⴰⴷ ⵜⴻⵢⵎⴰ or ⵀⵓⵡⴰⵔⴰ) is a city in Taroudant Province, Souss-Massa, Morocco. According to the 2014 Moroccan census it had a population of 89,387, up from 66,183 in the 2004 census.
