Othon Henri Del Caretto, Marquis Of Savona
Othon Henri del Caretto or Del Carretto, Marquis of Grana (1629 – Mariemont, Hainaut 15 June 1685) was an Imperial Army commander and political figure. Descendant from an old Italian noble family, he was titular Margrave of Savona, Marquis of Grana, Count of Millesimo, etc. He became instantly famous on 11 August 1675 in the Battle of Konzer Brucke, he engaged the right flank on exactly the right moment against the French under François de Créquy, inflicting a severe defeat. On the battlefield a ''Grana-memorial'' was erected in 1892. He became a Knight of the Golden Fleece in 1678, Field Marshal of the Empire, Imperial ambassador in Madrid and General Captain and Governor of the Spanish Netherlands in April 1682. On 31 July 1667 he married Countess Maria Theresia von Herberstein ( Graz 1641 – Brussels 1682), widow of Franz Adam Graf von Losenstein. Mariemont, Belgium
Mariemont, also Morlanwelz-Mariemont, is a former royal estate and hunting park in Belgium, created in the 16th century by Mary of Hungary, from whom it took its name. It was reconstructed several times through the centuries before being finally destroyed in 1794. The royal residences formerly on the site have long since been destroyed. It is now located in the municipality of Morlanwelz in the Province of Hainaut, Belgium. It is part of the Domaine de Mariemont which encompasses the park, a wooded drève, orchards adjoining on both sides of this one and the forest of Mariemont. Designed by Charles-Henri Petersen in 1832 and kept by his pupils Édouard Keilig and Louis Fuchs until the end of that century, it is an English-style landscaped park, designed as a leisure and collection park. Knights Of The Golden Fleece
The Distinguished Order of the Golden Fleece ( es, Insigne Orden del Toisón de Oro, german: Orden vom Goldenen Vlies) is a Catholic order of chivalry founded in Bruges by Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in 1430, to celebrate his marriage to Isabella of Portugal. Today, two branches of the order exist, namely the Spanish and the Austrian Fleece; the current grand masters are Felipe VI, King of Spain and Karl von Habsburg, head of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine, respectively. The Grand Chaplain of the Austrian branch is Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, Archbishop of Vienna. The separation of the two existing branches took place as a result of the War of the Spanish Succession. Alessandro Farnese (10 January 1635 – 18 February 1689) was an Italian military leader, who was Governor of the Habsburg Netherlands from 1678 until 1682. He is not to be confused with his better known great-grandfather Alexander Farnese, Duke of Parma. This Alessandro was often called Alessandro di Odoardo (son of Odoardo). Battle Of Slankamen
The Battle of Slankamen was fought on 19 August 1691, near Slankamen in the Ottoman Sanjak of Syrmia (modern-day Vojvodina, Serbia), between the Ottoman Empire, and Habsburg Austrian forces during the Great Turkish War. The battle saw a Turkish-Transylvanian force led by Emeric Thököly and Mustafa Köprülü suffer an overwhelming defeat by an Imperial army commanded by Ludwig Wilhelm of Baden. The Grand Vizir Mustafa Köprülü was killed by a stray bullet and the Ottoman army routed, leaving behind the war chest and their artillery. The battle was disastrous for the Turks and costly for the Austrians. The victory stabilized the Hungarian front and secured Hungary, Croatia and Transylvania for the Habsburgs. Philippe Charles D'Arenberg
Philippe Charles François, 3rd Duke of Arenberg (10 May 1663—25 August 1691) was also the 9th Duke of Aarschot. He became a knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece in 1685. Like his father, Charles Eugene, 2nd Duke of Arenberg, he was Grand-Bailiff and Captain-General of Hainaut. Drogenbos (; ) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality only comprises the town of Drogenbos proper.
