Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. The shuttlecock is a feathered or (in informal matches) plastic projectile which flies differently from the balls used in many other sports. Kumiko Ogura
is a Japanese badminton player, affiliated with the Sanyo Electric team. Born in Kawagoe, Mie, Ogura started playing badminton at the age of eight. When she was in grade 1 in Shitennoji Senior High School, she entered the Japanese junior team. After graduating from high school in 2002, she joined the Sanyo Electric team. She partnered with Reiko Shiota, and they became the women's doubles runner-up at the 2005 Asian Championships. The two won their first world grand prix title at the 2005 Denmark Open. In 2006, she won the bronze medal at the Doha 2006 Asian Games, after being defeated by Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen in the semifinals. She also won the women's doubles bronze at the 2007 World Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. is a Japanese badminton player from Tonami Transportation badminton team. In 2013, he and his men's doubles partner Hirokatsu Hashimoto, received the Badminton Nippon League's Valuable Player Award. is a Japanese badminton player from Tonami Transportation badminton team. In 2013, he and his men's doubles partner Noriyasu Hirata, received the Badminton Nippon League's Valuable Player Award. Wang Rong (badminton)
Wang Rong (, born 18 April 1984 in Jiangsu) is a Chinese female badminton player and in 2010 she started representing Macau. Career In 2000, she won silver medal at the World Junior Championships in girls' singles event. In 2001, she became the runner-up of the Chinese National Badminton Championships in women's singles event. In 2002, she became the runner-up of the French Open tournament in women's singles event. In 2004, she became the women's singles champion of the Chinese National Badminton Championships. In 2009, she became the runner-up of the Thailand Open tournament after defeated by her compatriot Liu Jian. In 2010, she qualified to representing Macau at the Asian Games. Chien Yu-chin
Chien Yu-chin (; born 24 October 1982) is a Taiwanese former badminton player. Summer Olympics Chien competed for Chinese Taipei in the 2004 Olympics in the women's doubles with partner Cheng Wen-hsing. They defeated Helen Nichol and Charmaine Reid of Canada in the first round but were defeated by Hwang Yu-mi and Lee Hyo-jung of South Korea in the round of 16. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, again with Cheng, they lost to Wei Yili and Zhang Yawen of China in the quarter-finals. Hsieh Yu-hsing (; born July 23, 1983) is a men's singles and mixed doubles international badminton player from Chinese Taipei (Taiwan). Hsieh started to play badminton international championships since 2002. Ayaka Takahashi
is a retired Japanese badminton player who was affiliated with Unisys badminton team. She is an Olympic Games gold medalist, two-time Asian Champion, two-time Asian Games silver medalist, and World Championship bronze medalist. Playing for the Unisys team with her regular partner Misaki Matsutomo in the women's doubles, she won five National Championships titles. In the international event, Takahashi and Matsutomo were ranked world number ones in October 2014. Misaki Matsutomo
is a Japanese badminton player who is a doubles specialist. She won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympic women's doubles alongside Ayaka Takahashi. Despite playing doubles, she was also a finalist in girls' singles at the 2010 BWF World Junior Championships in Mexico.
