Opposition (Croatia)
In Croatia, the Opposition ( hr, Oporba) comprises all political parties represented in the Croatian Parliament that are not part of the Government which is supported by the parliamentary majority. The Leader of the Opposition ( hr, Šef oporbe) is the unofficial title held by the leader of the largest party with no representatives within the government. Where one party wins outright this is usually the leader of the second largest political party in the Parliament (usually the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) or the Social Democratic Party (SDP)). Davorko Vidović
Davorko Vidović (born 26 June 1956.) is a Croatian politician, the current president of Socijaldemokrati and a member of Croatian Parliament. He also served as a Minister of Labour and Social Welfare from 2000 to 2003 and was elected a mayor of Sisak in 2005. The 10th Sabor was inaugurated on 22 July 2020. The assembly came into existence following the early parliamentary election on 5 July 2020 and consists of 151 representatives elected from 10 geographical and two special electoral districts. Davor Bernardić
Davor Bernardić (born 5 January 1980) is a Croatian physicist and politician who served as the president of the Social Democratic Party from 2016 to 2020. He also served as one of four SDP vice-presidents, leader of the SDP's Zagreb branch, and president of the SDP Youth Forum. Bernardić has been elected to the Croatian Parliament five times, representing the 1st electoral district. Early life and education Bernardić was born in Zagreb on 5 January 1980 to civil servant Damir Bernardić and nurse Dragica (née Tešo). His paternal grandfather's brother Ivan Bernardić was a notable member of the Croatian Peasant Party who was sentenced to long-term prison sentences in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the Independent State of Croatia and the SFR Yugoslavia because of his political activism. The Bridge ( hr, Most), previously known as Bridge of Independent Lists ( hr, Most nezavisnih lista) until November 2020, is a political party in Croatia founded in 2012. The party is led by Božo Petrov, its founder and the former mayor of Metković, deputy prime minister and speaker of the Croatian Parliament. Although the party leaders initially avoided ideological topics, The Bridge underwent through a rebranding prior to the 2020 Croatian parliamentary election and established itself as a social conservative party. The Key of Croatia ( hr, Ključ Hrvatske) is a populist political party in Croatia, formed out of an anti-eviction group of the same name. The party changed its name on 21 May 2022 from its then name Human Shield the group opposes foreclosures by occupying property and forming a "human shield", hence the name. The party was founded on 2 June 2011. The party grew out of the organization that operated until 2014 as the Alliance for Change ( hr, Savez za promjene). The organization formed into a party ahead of the 2014–15 presidential election, supporting the candidacy of Ivan Vilibor Sinčić. The party refuses to be characterized as being left or right and claims adherence to humanist values. The Croatian Peasant Party ( hr, Hrvatska seljačka stranka, HSS) is an agrarian political party in Croatia founded on 22 December 1904 by Antun and Stjepan Radić as Croatian Peoples' Peasant Party (HPSS). The Brothers Radić believed that the realization of Croatian statehood was possible within Austria-Hungary, but that it had to be reformed as a Monarchy divided into three equal parts – Austria, Hungary, Croatia. After the creation of Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1918, Party requested for the Croatian part of the Kingdom to be based on self-determination.
