Oniel Cousins
Oniel Theodore Cousins (born June 29, 1984) is a former American football guard and tackle. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at Texas–El Paso. He has also played for the Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Professional career Baltimore Ravens Cousins was selected by the Baltimore Ravens as a guard in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft. During his time in Baltimore, Cousins was a backup at the position, seeing some starting time due to injuries. On August 27, 2011, he was waived by the Ravens. Cleveland Browns He was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns on August 29, 2011. He had one start in 2011, 0 in 2012, but was the starting right guard on opening day in 2013. 2008 NFL Draft
The 2008 NFL Draft was the 73rd annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible American football players. The draft took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, on April 26 and April 27, 2008. For the 29th consecutive year, ESPN televised the draft; the NFL Network also broadcast the event, its third year doing so. Of the 252 selections, 220 were regular selections in rounds one through seven, and 32 were compensatory selections, distributed among rounds three through seven. In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through.
