Aaron Olmstead
Captain Aaron Olmsted (May 19, 1753 – September 9, 1806), erroneously spelled Olmstead, was a wealthy sea captain in the China trade out of New England, and one of 49 investors who formed the Connecticut Land Company in 1795 to purchase a major part of the Connecticut Western Reserve, Western Reserve from the U.S. state of Connecticut. He became the owner of thousands of acres from his $30,000 share of the $1,200,000 total land deal. The land encompassed the areas of Northeast Ohio now known as North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls, and Olmsted Township (originally known as Lenox) in what is now Cuyahoga County, as well as Franklin Township, Portage County, Ohio, Franklin Township, named after his son Aaron Franklin Olmsted, and most of the city of Kent, Ohio, Kent in what is now Portage County, Ohio, Portage County. Lake Olmstead Stadium is a baseball park in Augusta, Georgia, United States. It was built between the 1994 and 1995 seasons to replace Heaton Stadium on the same site and can hold 4,822 people. The stadium also serves as an outdoor-arena style event venue. Lake Olmstead Stadium was primarily used as the home field of the Augusta GreenJackets of the Class A South Atlantic League from 1995 to 2017, after which the GreenJackets moved to the new SRP Park across the Savannah River in North Augusta, South Carolina, in 2018. Robert Olmstead (born January 3, 1954) is an American novelist and educator. Early life and education Olmstead was born in 1954 in Westmoreland, New Hampshire. He grew up on a farm. Roy Olmstead (September 18, 1886 – April 30, 1966) was one of the most successful and best-known bootleggers in the Pacific Northwest region during American Prohibition. A former lieutenant in the Seattle Police Department, he began smuggling alcohol from Canada while still on the force. Following his arrest for that crime, he lost his job in law enforcement and turned to illegally importing and distributing alcohol as a full-time and highly profitable occupation. Matt Olmstead is an American writer and producer for television shows. Biography Early life Olmstead graduated from California State University, Chico in 1988. He is an alumnus of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts. He went to Hollywood in hopes of being a script writer. Olmstead eventually worked with an agent, who set him up with Steven Bochco. After 10 minutes of talking, Bochco offered him the opportunity to write an episode for the show ''NYPD Blue''. Career In 1993, Olmstead wrote for the television series ''NYPD Blue''. The series was created by Steven Bochco and David Milch. It focused on a single homicide unit in New York City. Gertrude Olmstead (November 13, 1897 – January 18, 1975) was an American actress of the silent era. She appeared in 56 films between 1920 and 1929. Her last name was sometimes seen as Olmsted. Career Olmstead was born in Chicago, Illinois, and was noticed after winning a 5,900-entrant contest to represent "The Spirit of America" at the 1920 Elks Club national convention. Denison Olmstead
Denison Olmsted (June 18, 1791May 13, 1859) was an American physicist and astronomer. Professor Olmsted is credited with giving birth to meteor science after the 1833 Leonid meteor shower over North America spurred him to study this phenomenon. Biography Olmsted was born June 18, 1791, in East Hartford, Connecticut. In 1813, he graduated from Yale College, where he acted as college tutor from 1815 to 1817. In the latter year, he was appointed to the chair of chemistry, mineralogy and geology in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A gold rush in North Carolina spurred the state legislature to sponsor the first state geological survey that was ever attempted in the United States.
