Marshall-Shadeland is a neighborhood on Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's North Side. Perry South (Pittsburgh)
Perry South — also known as Perry Hilltop — is a neighborhood on Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's North Side. It developed as a streetcar suburb around the turn of the 20th century, so it consists almost exclusively of residential housing, with a small business district at the intersection of Perrysville Avenue and Charles Avenue. The hill on which the neighborhood is built provides natural borders to the west (the Charles Street Valley), to the east ( Parkway North) and to the south (the Mexican War Streets). Northview Heights
Northview Heights is a neighborhood in the North Side of the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. It has a zip codes of both 15212 and 15214, and has representation on Pittsburgh City Council by the council member for District 1 (North Neighborhoods). Northview Heights was part of Reserve Township before being annexed by Pittsburgh in 1932. At that time, what is now Northview Heights consisted of vacant land which, due to topography, was isolated from Spring Hill (to the south) and Summer Hill (to the north). During a seven-year period from 1955 to 1962, the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh developed this vacant land by creating a 999 unit public housing project called Northview Heights. Court action taken by nearby residents opposed to its construction held up the project for three years. Summer Hill (Pittsburgh)
Summer Hill is a neighborhood on Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's North Side. It has a zip code of 15214, and has representation on Pittsburgh City Council by the council member for District 1 (North Neighborhoods). Once part of Reserve Township, the Summer Hill area was annexed to Pittsburgh's North Side on October 31, 1922. It was a sparsely populated site until the late 1960s, when Pittsburgh's Urban Redevelopment Authority proposed, and City Council approved, construction of a 51-acre development called "Harpen Hilltop," which consisted of 373 private homes and a 272-unit high-rise for elderly residents of the East Street Valley whose homes were being torn down to permit construction of I-279. Maps in the City of Pittsburgh Department of Urban Planning's 1974 "Neighborhood Profiles" series refer to the area as "Harpen Hilltop." The Steps of Pittsburgh refers to the collection of nearly 800 sets of city-owned steps in the City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States. Many steps parallel existing roads, but others exist on their own and are classified as city streets and are commonly referred to as "paper streets." Nearly two-thirds of the steps are in low or moderate-income areas. Approximately 450 sets of steps are built on structures and 350 are built into sidewalks, known as "jumpwalks". The large number of steps are an engineering approach to the topography upon which the City of Pittsburgh is built. According to author Martin Aurand, Pittsburgh "lies unevenly on unruly land". The city is located at the confluence of two rivers which cut through elevated land of the Appalachian Plateau. The city is settled at elevations ranging from above sea level. Riverview Park is the fourth largest municipal park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The park is located four miles (6 km) north of Downtown in the neighborhood of Perry North and consists of . Area Riverview Park appears to be the first park in the city of Allegheny, Pennsylvania, (which since 1907 is a part of the city of Pittsburg Allegheny City created it in response to the City of Pittsburgh's creation of Schenley Park. The land the Riverview Park occupies belonged to Sam Watson and was known as Watson's Farm. Mayor William M. The Allegheny Observatory is an American astronomical research institution, a part of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh.
