Oṣó
''Oṣó'' (Yoruba: ''The Wizard'') is the sixth studio album by Nigerian singer Brymo. It was released independently on 27 March 2018. The album was produced entirely by Mikky Me Joses and consists of 11 tracks, including three recorded in the Yoruba language. ''Oṣó'' is a mixture of Alternative folk and Yoruba music and has elements of mysticism; it sheds light on Brymo's folk and traditional roots. ''Oṣó'' was supported by the singles "Heya!" and "Bá’núsọ". It received critical acclaim from music critics, who complimented its production and Brymo's songwriting. The website Pulse Nigeria and ''Nigerian Entertainment Today'' ranked ''Oṣó'' second on their list of the best Nigerian albums of 2018. Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ (born Olawale Ibrahim Ashimi; 9 May 1986), better known as Brymo, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, sound artist, sonic artist, actor and author who was born and raised in Okokomaiko. Brymo started recording music in 1999 while in secondary school, and released his debut studio album ''Brymstone'' in 2007. He signed a recording contract with music label Chocolate City (music label), Chocolate City in 2010 but was accused of breaching his contract in 2013. ''Klĭtôrĭs'' (Greek: ''Key'') is the fifth studio album by Nigerian singer Brymo. It was made available for pre-order on iTunes before its independent release on May 9, 2016. The album comprises eleven tracks and was supported by the singles "Happy Memories", "Something Good is Happening", "Alajọ Ṣomolu", and "Billion Naira Dream". Brymo's wife Esse Kakada, who was his girlfriend at the time of the album's release, is featured on the song "Naked". Pulse Nigeria included ''Klĭtôrĭs'' among the 10 Best Nigerian Albums of 2016. Lemi Ghariokwu (born Emmanuel Sunday; 26 December 1955), also known simply as Lemi, is a Nigerian painter, illustrator and designer who is most renowned for providing many of the original cover images for the recordings of Nigerian musician Fela Kuti. Nigerian Pidgin, also known simply as Pidgin or as Naijá in scholarship, is an English-based creole language spoken as a ''lingua franca'' across Nigeria. The language is sometimes referred to as ''Pijin'' or ''Vernacular''. The Headies 2019
The Headies 2019 was the thirteenth edition of The Headies. It was held on October 19, 2019, at the Eko Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. Themed "Power of a Dream", the ceremony was hosted by rapper Reminisce and actress Nancy Isime. After shortlisting thousands of entries submitted between January 2018 and June 2019, the organizers of the ceremony announced the nominees on 1 October 2019. Burna Boy set a record for the most nominations in one night with 10 nominations. Teni followed with 6 and Wizkid with 5. Wole Soyinka
Wole Soyinka , (born 13 July 1934) is a Nigerian author, best known as a playwright and poet. He has written three novels, ten collections of short stories, seven poetry collections, twenty five plays and five memoirs. Jùjú Music
Jùjú is a style of Yoruba popular music, originated in Lagos, Nigeria. It first began developing in the 1920s with Tunde King (Abdulrafiu Babatunde King). Early styles of jùjú music consisted of banjo or acoustic guitar, drums, gourd rattle, tambourine, and vocals. Call-and-response singing is common in jùjú music along with harmonies, repetitive refrains, and Polyrhythm, polyrhythmic percussion. Other musical elements like improvisation and expressive vocal styles are often found. Although jùjú music was developing in the 1920s, a recognizable genre did not emerge until the mid-1930s.
