Otú Norte Fault
The Otú Norte or Otú-Pericos Fault () is an inactive sinistral thrust fault, oblique strike-slip fault in the departments of Colombia, department of Antioquia Department, Antioquia in northern Colombia. The fault has a total length of and runs along an average north-northwest to south-southeast strike (geology), strike of 346.4 ± 8, cross-cutting the northern part of the Cordillera Central (Colombia), Central Ranges of the Colombian Andes. Together with the parallel Bagre Norte Fault the fault separates the Central Ranges from its northeasternmost continuation, the Serranía de San Lucas. Otú Airport
Otú Airport () is an airport located in the village of Otú and serving the town of Remedios, a municipality of the Antioquia Department in Colombia. It is also known as Alberto Jaramillo Sanchez Airport. Currently only Aerolínea de Antioquia operates from this airport, with two daily flights on Twin Otter aircraft to Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport in Medellín. Previously, the airline ACES flew between this airport and Medellin several times per day on aircraft including the Let L-410 Turbolet, Cessna 206 and Twin Otter. Serranía De San Lucas
The Serranía de San Lucas is a forested massif in the Bolívar Department of northern Colombia that reaches heights of 2,600 m above sea level. It is part of the Magdalena–Urabá moist forests ecoregion, with a rainforest ecology that includes large monkey and bird populations. It is a 'forest reserve' that has been recommended for protection, but has been opened to mining by the Colombian government, as the mountains have large deposits of gold, emeralds, nickel and mercury. AngloGold Ashanti has been exploring in the area since 2004, causing tensions with local small-scale miners. The ELN guerrilla group enforced forest protection in the area in the early 2000s, apparently to protect local hydrology.
