Otta, Norway
is a List of towns and cities in Norway, town in Sel, Norway, Sel Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The town is also the administrative centre of the municipality. The town is located at the confluence of the Gudbrandsdalslågen and Otta (river), Otta rivers. The European route E6 highway runs through the town. The Dovrebanen railway line also passes through the town, stopping at the Otta Station. The town has a population (2021) of 2,283 and a population density of . The town is named after the Otta (river), Otta river. The first three tiers of Norwegian education are covered by its primary and secondary schools and the high school, ''Otta vidaregående skule''. Otta also has a regional medical clinic. Otta is one of the few towns in Norway without a church in the town centre. Historically, the designation of town/city was granted by the king, but since 1996 that authority was given to the local Municipal council (Norway), municipal councils for each municipality in Norway. The Dovre Line () is a Norwegian railway line with three slightly different lines which all lead to the historic city of Trondheim. Oslo ( or ; ) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Ottadalen () is a valley in the municipalities of Skjåk, Lom, Vågå, and Sel in Innlandet county, Norway. The valley is one of the side valleys that branch off of the large Gudbrandsdalen valley. It lies on the northern edge of Jotunheimen National Park. Lillehammer () is a town which is the administrative centre of Lillehammer Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The town is located along the river Gudbrandsdalslågen at the northern end of the lake Mjøsa in the southern Gudbrandsdal valley. Sel Church
Sel Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Sel Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the village of Selsverket. It is the church for the Sel parish which is part of the Nord-Gudbrandsdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Hamar. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1742 using plans drawn up by the architect Knut Syversen Moen. The church seats about 250 people. History The first church in Sel was a wooden stave church that was likely built in the 13th century.
