Otis Art Institute
Otis College of Art and Design is a Private university, private Art school, art and design school in Los Angeles, California, United States. Established in 1918, it was the city's first independent professional school of art. MacArthur Park
MacArthur Park (originally Westlake Park) is a park dating back to the late 19th century in the Westlake, Los Angeles, Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. In the early 1940s, it was renamed after General Douglas MacArthur, and later designated City of Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument #100. The lake in MacArthur Park is fed by Spring (hydrosphere), natural springs (although an artificial bottom to the lake was laid during the construction of the B Line (Los Angeles Metro), Red Line, opened in 1993). Rosemary Brantley
Rosemary Brantley is an American fashion designer and educator. She is the chair of the fashion design department of Otis College of Art and Design, since 1980. She is also co-founding member of her own sportsware company, Staples. Biography Brantley's career began in Dallas, Texas, where she worked both as a fashion model and as an assistant in the fashion office of Neiman Marcus. There she met designer Stan Herman, who at the time taught at Parsons School of Design in New York City, and later became President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Impressing Herman with her sense of style and design, Rosemary was accepted to attend Parsons on his recommendation. When Rosemary graduated from Parsons in 1973, she was named "Designer of the Year." Marisol Escobar (May 22, 1930 – April 30, 2016), otherwise known simply as Marisol, was a Venezuelan-American sculptor born in Paris, who lived and worked in New York City. Ferus Gallery
The Ferus Gallery was a contemporary art gallery which operated from 1957 to 1966. In 1957, the gallery was located at 736-A North La Cienega Boulevard, Los Angeles in the U.S. state of California. In 1958, it was relocated across the street to 723 North La Cienega Boulevard where it remained until its closing in 1966. History The gallery was founded in 1957 by the curator Walter Hopps, his wife Shirley Hopps, the artist Edward Kienholz on La Cienega Boulevard. Walter Hopps and Shirley Hopps ran the gallery. They called the gallery “Ferus” to honor a person named James Farris who shot himself to death, and was possibly the friend of a friend of Hopps.
