Oscar Ihlebæk
Oscar Ihlebæk (9 October 1900 – 10 March 1945) was a Norwegian newspaper editor and resistance member. History Ihlebæk was born in Drammen, to a mother from Skoger and a father from Rakkestad. In 1926 he married Fredrikke Wium from Drammen, and they had two children. At the time he resided in Asker where he chaired the local Socialist Youth League chapter. He had secondary education. He was a journalist in his hometown newspaper , then the main organ of the Social Democratic Labour Party, , before becoming a subeditor in in 1927. He was promoted to editor-in-chief in 1939. He was a board member of the Norwegian Press Association from 1936, and from 1939 he was a deputy board member in Den Nationale Scene. During the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany he was fired by the Nazi authorities in November 1940. He joined the Norwegian resistance movement, but was captured. Drammen
Drammen () is a city and municipality in Buskerud county, Norway. The port and river city of Drammen is centrally located in the south-eastern and most populated part of Norway. Grini prison camp (, ) was a Nazi concentration camp in Bærum, Norway, which operated between 1941 and May 1945. Ila Detention and Security Prison is now located here. History Grini was originally built as a women's prison, near an old croft named ''Ilen'' (also written ''Ihlen''), on land bought from the Løvenskiold family by the Norwegian state. The construction of a women's prison started in 1938, but despite being more or less finished in 1940, it did not come into use for its original purpose: Nazi Germany's invasion of Norway on 9 April 1940, during World War II, instead precipitated the use of the site for detention by the Nazi regime. Grini is a district in northeastern Bærum, Norway. Concentration camp The name Grini is best known from the concentration camp of the same name, but this camp lay further west and had no actual connection to the Grini area. History The name Grini is a variant of ''Granvin'' ( a placename used elsewhere), and stems from spruce trees in the area. The Old Norse form was Grǫnin. The farm Grini is known at least since 1348, when it was divided into a northern and a southern part. Both farms belonged to the Church of Norway, but the crown usurped the property following the Protestant Reformation. The dwelling house was erected in 1658, three years before the property was sold from the crown to a private person. Gunnar Ousland
Gunnar Ousland (8 September, 1877 – 29 January, 1957) was a Norwegian editor, writer, trade unionist and politician for the Labour and Social Democratic Labour parties. He started out as a temperance activist and trade unionist before serving as a politician and in the party press. He edited several magazines and newspapers, including an illegal newspaper during World War II. He was later one of the proponents for the Common Program, and wrote historical books. Early life and pre-World War II career He was born in Halse in Vest-Agder, the youngest of 11 children of Henrik Tormundsen (1828-1998) and Gunhild Tomine Taraldsdatter (1835-1993). He finished a typographer's education in 1897, and went to Oslo, where he became a member of the typographers' union.
