Lambton County
Lambton County is a county in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. It is bordered on the north by Lake Huron, which is drained by the St. Clair River, the county's western border and part of the Canada-United States border. To the south is Lake Saint Clair and Chatham-Kent. Lambton County's northeastern border follows the Ausable River and Parkhill Creek north until it reaches Lake Huron at the beach community of Grand Bend. The county seat is in the Town of Plympton-Wyoming. The largest city in Lambton County is Sarnia, which is located at the source of the St. Clair River at Lake Huron. Area codes 519, 226, 548, and 382 are overlay telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for most of southwestern Ontario. Area code 519 was the initial code of the numbering plan area (NPA). It was assigned in 1953 in a remapping of the western portion of area code 416 and the southwestern portion of 613. The numbering plan area is mostly bounded by area code 905, except for Simcoe County which is neighboring 705. Area code 226 was added to the numbering plan area in 2006 in a conversion to an overlay numbering plan and 548 was added in 2015. Sarnia is a city in Lambton County, Ontario, Canada. It had a Canada 2021 Census, 2021 population of 72,047, and is the largest city on Lake Huron. Sarnia is located on the eastern bank of the junction between the Upper and Lower Great Lakes, where Lake Huron flows into the St. Clair River in the Southwestern Ontario region, which forms the Canada–United States border, directly across from Port Huron, Michigan. The site's natural harbour first attracted the French explorer René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, La Salle.
