Osadné
Osadné (, ) is a village and municipality in Snina District in the Prešov Region of north-eastern Slovakia. History In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1639. Before the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia in 1918, Osadné was part of Zemplén County within the Kingdom of Hungary. From 1939 to 1944, it was part of the Slovak Republic. In the autumn of 1944, the Red Army dislodged the Wehrmacht from Osadné and it was once again part of Czechoslovakia. Geography The municipality lies at an altitude of 385 metres and covers an area of 26.523 km². According to the 2013 census it had a population of 181 inhabitants. Culture The village was portrayed in a 2009 documentary film of the same name, directed by Marko Škop. Marko Škop
Marko Škop (born 1974 in Prešov, Slovakia) is a Slovak film director. He received degrees in journalism at Comenius University in Bratislava in 1996 and in film directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in 2001. He gained his PhD in Mass Media from the Faculty of Philosophy at Comenius University in Bratislava in 2005. Awards At the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, ''Other Worlds'' received the "Audience Award" and "Special Mention of the Jury" in 2006, and ''Osadné'' was awarded "Best Documentary" in 2009. At the BFI London Film Festival, ''Osadné'' was nominated for the "Grierson Award" in 2009. Snina District (''okres Snina'') is a district in the Prešov Region of eastern Slovakia. Until 1918, the district was part of the county of Kingdom of Hungary of Zemplín. It's the easternmost district in Slovakia, and includes the easternmost point of the whole country, Kremenec. The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) is the world's largest documentary film festival held annually since 1988 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
