Orlican VT-16 Orlík
The Orlican VT-16 Orlík is a single-seat club glider (sailplane), glider, serving Czechoslovakia, Czech gliding clubs and setting several national records in the early 1960s. Design and development The VT-16 Orlík was designed by Jiri Matejček and is a high-wing monoplane of all-wood construction, except that the skin is stabilized with polystyrene foam. Its wing has a single spar structure with a forward torsion box; the whole wing is plywood skinned and foam filled, allowing the rib (aircraft), ribs to be comparatively widely spaced. In plan it is straight-tapered with blunt tips; there are 3° of dihedral (aircraft), dihedral. It has conventional plain ailerons and spoiler (aeronautics), spoilers at mid-chord (aircraft), chord, which extend both above and below the wing. The NACA airfoil series is a set of standardized airfoil shapes developed by this agency, which became widely used in the design of aircraft wings. Prague Aviation Museum, Kbely
Kbely Aviation Museum () is the largest aviation museum in the Czech Republic and one of the largest of its kind in Europe. It is located to the north-east of Prague, at the military Prague–Kbely Airport, airport Kbely. Creation of the museum During the mid-1960s, the Prague Military Museum commenced a programme to recover, restore and preserve historic aircraft from around the country for eventual display at Kbely. Initially, one hangar was used, and about fifty aircraft were placed on public display. Balanced rudders are used by both ships and aircraft. Both may indicate a portion of the rudder surface ahead of the hinge, placed to lower the control loads needed to turn the rudder. A servo tab is a small hinged device installed on an aircraft control surface to assist the movement of the control surfaces. Introduced by the German firm Flettner, servo tabs were formerly known as Flettner tabs. Servo tabs are not true servomechanisms, as they do not employ negative feedback to keep the control surfaces in a desired position; they only provide a mechanical advantage to the pilot. Servo tabs A servo tab, or balance tab, moves in the direction opposite to the desired movement of the control surface.
