Oran Of Iona
Oran or Odran (, ; , hence sometimes ''Otteran''; died AD 548), by tradition a descendant of Conall Gulban, was a companion of Saint Columba in Iona, and the first Christian to be buried on that island. María Orán Cury (1943–2018) was a Spanish soprano who sang in leading music festivals in Europe, Mexico, Hong Kong, Australia and Israel. She performed with orchestras including the Wiener Symphoniker, the Hague Philharmonic and the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. Ahmet Cevdet Oran (mostly known as Ahmet Cevdet; 1862–27 May 1935) was a Turkish journalist who founded an influential newspaper, '' İkdam'' which was in circulation between 1894 and 1928. He was one of the early Turkish journalists who employed pure Turkish instead of Ottoman Turkish in his writings. Biography Ahmet Cevdet was born in Istanbul in 1862. His father was Hacı Ahmed Efendi, a well-known tobacco merchant. He graduated from Kaptanpaşa Junior High School and then from Mülkiye, school of political sciences, and the law school. Oran Milo Roberts (July 9, 1815May 19, 1898) was an American politician and jurist who served as the 17th governor of Texas from 1879 to 1883. A member of the Democratic Party, Roberts County, Texas, is named after him. Early life Roberts was born in Laurens District, South Carolina. He studied at the University of Alabama, graduated in 1836, and was admitted to the bar the following year. After serving a term in the Alabama legislature, he moved to Texas, where he opened a successful law practice. In 1844, he was appointed a district attorney by Texas President Sam Houston. In 1846, after Texas had become a state, Roberts was appointed district judge by Governor James Pinckney Henderson. Oran Henry Pape (March 10, 1904 – April 30, 1936) was a member of the Iowa State Patrol in the United States. He is the first member of the Patrol to have been murdered in the line of duty. Prior to joining the Patrol, Pape played professional American football. Football career Pape played high school football at Dubuque Senior High School, where he was part of the 1924 state championship football team. He then played college football at the University of Iowa. Following college, he played in the National Football League for the Green Bay Packers, the Minneapolis Red Jackets, the Providence Steam Roller, the Boston Braves (NFL), Boston Braves, and the Staten Island Stapletons. Oran Wendle Eagleson (1910–1997) was an American psychologist. He taught at the North Carolina College for Negroes, before teaching at Spelman College, Atlanta, where he became the dean of instruction and later the Callaway Professor of Psychology. He was the third black person in the United States to receive a doctorate degree in psychology.
