Oposición Sindical Obrera
Oposición Sindical Obrera ("Working Class Union Opposition", abbreviated OSO) was a clandestine trade union movement in Spain. OSO was originally tied to the Communist Party of Spain (PCE). Many of its members participated in '' vertical union'' elections of 1963 in order to infiltrate the official regime union, including Marcelino Camacho. OSO is considered the precedent for the Workers' Commissions (CCOO). In the mid 60's the PCE abandoned the OSO in favour of the more successful CCOO. When the PCE abandoned the organization the PCE (m-l), a 1964 maoist split of the PCE took over the OSO and transformed it in its affiliated union. Asociación Obrera Asambleista
''Asociación Obrera Asambleista'' (Assemblyist Workers Association, abbreviated AOA) was a trade union movement in Spain. AOA was linked to the Communist Party of Spain (Marxist–Leninist) and the Revolutionary Antifascist Patriotic Front. AOA had its roots in the ''Oposición Sindical Obrera'' (Workers' Trade Union Opposition). AOA appeared in late 1977. According to a 1977 government statement, AOA was further to the left than all other trade union groups at the time. Political positions AOA advocated an "assemblyist" approach to trade unionism, in which all power over the movement would be in the hands of workers' assemblies and that the mandates of their delegates would be revokable at all times. In negotiations AOA would refuse to concede to compromises, citing that the workers' assemblies would be sovereign to decide over any deals with the employers. Communist Party Of Spain
The Communist Party of Spain (; PCE) is a communist party that, since 1986, has been part of the United Left coalition, which is currently part of Sumar. Two of its politicians are Spanish government ministers: Yolanda Díaz (Minister of Labour and Social Economy) and Sira Rego (Minister of Youth and Children). The PCE was founded by 1921, after a split in the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (; PSOE). The PCE was founded by those who opposed the social democratic wing of the PSOE, because the social democrat wing did not support the PSOE's integration in the Communist International founded by Vladimir Lenin two years prior. Sindicato Vertical
The Spanish Syndical Organization (; OSE), popularly known in Spain as the (the "Vertical Trade Union"), was the sole legal trade union for most of the Francoist dictatorship. A public-law entity created in 1940, the vertically-structured OSE was a core part of the project for frameworking the Economy and the State in Francoist Spain, following the trend of the new type of "harmonicist" and corporatist understanding of labour relations vouching for worker–employer collaboration developed in totalitarian regimes such as those of Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy in the first half of the 20th century. Up until the early 1950s, it internally worked—at least on a rhetorical basis—according to the discourse of national syndicalism. Marcelino Camacho
Marcelino Camacho Abad (January 21, 1918 – October 29, 2010) was a Spanish trade unionist and politician. He was a founding member of Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) and its first Secretary-General, holding this position between 1976 and 1987, and a communist deputy for Madrid Province between 1977 and 1981. Early life Born the son of a unionized signalman in the village of Osma, Soria, Spain, Camacho was familiar with socialist positions from a young age. In 1935, he joined the Communist Party of Spain (PCE), its Youth Organization and the General Workers' Union. Military career During the Spanish Civil War, Camacho was a private in the Spanish Republican Army on the Central and Southern fronts. He was captured by the Francoist forces at the end of the war in 1939, and sentenced to serve forced labor in a penal battalion in Spanish Morocco. Workers' Commissions
The Workers' Commissions () since the 1970s has become the largest trade union in Spain. It has more than one million members, and is the most successful union in labor elections, competing with the Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT), which is historically affiliated with the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE), and with the anarcho-syndicalism, anarcho-syndicalist General Confederation of Labor (Spain), Confederación General del Trabajo (CGT), which is usually a distant third. Maoism
