Alfredo F. Olivera (9 March 1908 – unknown) was a Uruguayan chess player, five-time Uruguayan Chess Championship winner (1937, 1944, 1947, 1957, 1963). Biography From the late 1930s to the mid-1960s, Alfredo Olivera was one of Uruguayan leading chess players. He was multiple participant in the Uruguayan Chess Championships, where he won champion title in 1937, 1944, 1947, 1957, and 1963. Baldomero Olivera
Baldomero Olivera (born 1941) is a Filipino chemist known for discovery of many cone snail toxins important for neuroscience. These molecules, called conotoxins, led to a breakthrough in the study of ion channels and neuromuscular synapses. He discovered and first characterized E. coli DNA ligase, a key enzyme of genetic engineering and recombinant DNA technology. Olivera graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1960. He received his PhD from the California Institute of Technology (1966) in Biophysical Chemistry, followed by postdoctoral work at Stanford University from 1966 to 1968. In 1970, he moved to the University of Utah, where he is now a Distinguished Professor of Biology. Érika Alejandra Olivera de la Fuente (born 4 January 1976 in Quinta Normal) is a female marathon runner from Chile and deputy for the Democrats party. She has competed at five Olympic Games, the most Olympic appearances ever by a female marathon runner. Olivera worked mainly in the cinema of Argentina, but also has directed or contributed to several films made for the United States market. Max "Mako" Oliveras Gutiérrez (born September 10, 1946) is a former Minor League Baseball player who later managed in the minors for several teams. Rubén Ariel Olivera da Rosa (born 4 May 1983 in Montevideo) is a Uruguayan former footballer who played as a midfielder, and current coach.
