Olimpia-Lechia Gdańsk
Olimpia-Lechia Gdańsk was a short lived Polish association football club, created by a merger of Lechia Gdańsk and Olimpia Poznań, which played in the Ekstraklasa for the 1995–96 season. History Pre-merger Olimpia Poznań Olimpia Poznań was created in 1945, owned by the Citizen's Militia. As a result of this the club was seen as being a " Gwardian" establishment which left the club poorly supported with fans choosing to follow either Lech Poznań or Warta Poznań. During the 1980s the club was a regular in the Ekstraklasa, however after the fall of communism in Poland in 1989 Olimpia lost a lot of its funding and fell into obscurity. Lechia Gdańsk Lechia Gdańsk were also created in 1945, Lechia's greatest success in the top flight came during the 1950s, when the club finished 3rd during the 1956 season. Gdańsk Sports Center Stadium
The Stadion Gdańskiego Ośrodka Sportu (''Gdańsk Sports Center Stadium''), sometimes officially called the Lechia Gdańsk Stadion or simply the Lechia Stadion is a multi-purpose stadium in Gdańsk, Poland. The stadium has a capacity of about 12,000 people, however it held 40,000 spectators during a match between Lechia Gdańsk and Italian side Juventus. The stadium was formerly called the ''"Stadium of the City Centre of Sports and Relaxation"'' (), and was known as ''Stadion MOSiR'' for short, until the Gdańsk Sports Center took over the stadium management in 2000. The ground was once the major centre of all sporting activities for the Lechia Gdańsk sports club. The ground was in the centre of a complex which included tennis courts, and an additional football pitch. After the stadium was rebuilt after being damaged during the Second World War, Lechia stopped playing football matches on fields in Gdańsk and made the stadium their home. Sebastian Nowak (born 16 May 1975) is a Polish former professional footballer who played as a defender. His playing career lasted just over 10 years, during which time he made 90 appearances and scored 5 goals in the I liga, while also retiring with two honours to his name. Biography Nowak started his career playing for the youth side of Polonia Leszno, eventually being promoted to the first team in January 1994. Piotr Wojdyga (born 12 September 1962) is a Polish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He was most recently the goalkeeping coach of Legionovia Legionowo. Biography Playing career Born in Warsaw, Wojdyga started his career with Okęcie Warsaw, based in Western Warsaw. He played for the first team in the 1982–83 season. After one season with Okęcie, Wojdyga joined I liga team Bałtyk Gdynia. In his first season with the club he was the third choice goalkeeper, failing to make an appearance for the first team. Dariusz Gładyś (born 27 April 1969) is a Polish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Biography Playing career Born in Zielina, Poland, he was first introduced to football by his father, who played professionally for clubs in the South-West of Poland. His father took him to training sessions from an early age, eventually training with the youth sides of Odra Wodzisław. Gładyś graduated from mining school, qualifying to be a machine mechanic, stating that if he never became a footballer he would have used his training to work in the mines.
