Old Hill, West Midlands
Old Hill is a small village in the metropolitan borough of Sandwell, West Midlands, England, situated around north of Halesowen and south of Dudley. It is part of the West Midlands conurbation. History ''Kelly's Directory of Staffordshire, 1896'' has the name as ''Oldhill'' and states that it is an ecclesiastical parish formed on 26 August 1876 from the civil parish of Rowley Regis in the Kingswinford division of Staffordshire. Old Hill was historically in the urban district and later county borough of Rowley Regis, in the county of Staffordshire. However, local government reorganisation in 1966 saw it become part of the new County Borough of Warley, and transferred into the county of Worcestershire. This arrangement lasted until 1974, when it became part of the borough of Sandwell in the newly created West Midlands county. Sandwell is a metropolitan borough of the West Midlands (county), West Midlands county in England. The borough is named after the Sandwell Priory, and spans a densely populated part of the West Midlands conurbation. Ormiston Forge Academy
Ormiston Forge Academy (formerly Heathfield Foundation Technology College and Heathfield High School) is a secondary school and sixth form with academy status located in the Old Hill area of Cradley Heath, West Midlands, England. Heathfield High School was built in the 1970s when two local schools Cradley Heath Secondary School, in the Lomey Town area of Cradley Heath, and Macefield Secondary School, in Old Hill, merged. The name of the school was coined from the names of the two schools. The new building programme of 2007 was completed, with a new hair and beauty salon, seminar rooms, catering rooms and a new sixth form study centre. As of 2011, the school became an academy sponsored by the Ormiston Academies Trust. The school was then renamed Ormiston Forge Academy. Haden Hill Park is at Haden Hill, between Halesowen and Old Hill in the West Midlands (county), West Midlands, England, on the southern edge of the Black Country. Within its grounds are the sixteenth and seventeenth century ''Haden Hall'' (also known as ''Haden Hill Old Hall''), the Victorian architecture, Victorian ''Haden Hill House'' and Corngreaves Nature reserve, Nature Reserve. The park and buildings are owned and managed by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. The estate, of which the Park was a central part, was built up by the Haden family over many hundreds of years. In 1877 it passed to George Alfred Haden Haden-Best (1839–1921) who built Haden Hill House and developed the parkland. Old Hill Cricket Club
Old Hill Cricket Club is a cricket club in Cradley Heath, West Midlands, England. History The club was founded in 1884 as Haden Hill Victoria, and has played on the Haden Hill ground in Cradley Heath since founding, having purchased it in 1934. The ground is owned by a Trust and shared with Old Hill Tennis Club. Historically the club was situated in the County of Staffordshire although boundary changes at one time placed it within the ambit of Worcestershire. It is for this reason that there is a joint affiliation with the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Cricket Boards. Old Hill joined the Birmingham League in 1920, and first won the league in its second year of membership. The club also won the Division 1 title in 1940, 1960, and 1983. William Dallinger
William Henry Dallinger FRS (5 July 1839 – 7 November 1909) was a British minister in the Wesleyan Methodist Church (Great Britain), Wesleyan Methodist Church. He was also an accomplished scientist, being the first to study the complete lifecycle of unicellular organisms under the microscope and studying the adaptation of such organisms to temperature. He made numerous contributions to microscopy, and was president of the Quekett Microscopical Club from 1889 to 1892. Dallinger was awarded three honorary doctorates, the Ll.D. from Victoria College, Toronto in 1884, the D.Sc. from Dublin in 1892, and the D.L.C. from Durham in 1896. Dallinger was married to Emma Ion Goldsmith (1842-1910). They had one child, son Percy Gough (1867-1930).
