Old Castle (Stuttgart)
The Old Palace () is a former castle located on the Schillerplatz (Stuttgart), Schillerplatz in Stuttgart, Germany. The castle, originally a water castle dating back to the 10th century, was the residence of the Counts of Württemberg, Counts and later some Dukes of Württemberg and today is the home of the Landesmuseum Württemberg. The castle church () still functions as a place of worship. History In the year 950 AD, a castle was completed on the grounds of the Old Castle to protect the mare garden. In the 14th century, it was the home of the Württemberg, Counts of Württemberg and their Court Chamber. From 1553-1578, Dukes Christoph, Duke of Württemberg, Christoph and Louis III, Duke of Württemberg, Louis III renovated the castle adding an equestrian staircase built by Blasius Berwart in 1560 and the church and conference room in 1562. Hohenbaden Castle
Hohenbaden Castle (at the time of its establishment ''Schloss Hohenbaden'', now ''Old castle'' or ''Altes Schloss'') in German Baden-Baden was the residence of the margraves of Margraviate of Baden, Baden for almost 400 years. The castle was built around 1100 by Herman II, Margrave of Baden (1074–1130) on the west flank of the Battert rock. Under Margrave Bernard I, Margrave of Baden-Baden, Bernard I (1372–1431) the Gothic lower castle was built. This was expanded again by Jacob, Margrave of Baden-Baden, Jacob, Margrave from 1431 to 1453. At its peak, the castle had a hundred rooms. Old Castle (Rockport, Massachusetts)
The Old Castle is a historic First Period house located on Castle Lane in Rockport, Massachusetts. The -story wood-frame house was probably built c. 1712 by Jethro Wheeler, in whose family it remained for six generations. It was sold out of the family in 1893 to Henry F. Story, and given to the Pigeon Cove Village Improvement Society in 1929. The house underwent some restoration at that time, and is now open during the summer as a historic house museum, operated by the Sandy Bay Historical Society. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Pictures At An Exhibition
''Pictures at an Exhibition'' is a piano suite in ten movements, plus a recurring and varied Promenade theme, written in 1874 by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky. It is a musical depiction of a tour of an exhibition of works by architect and painter Viktor Hartmann put on at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg, following his sudden death in the previous year. Each movement of the suite is based on an individual work, some of which are lost. The composition has become a showpiece for virtuoso pianists, and became widely known from orchestrations and arrangements produced by other composers and contemporary musicians, with Maurice Ravel's 1922 adaptation for orchestra being the most recorded and performed. The suite, particularly the final movement, "The Bogatyr Gates", is widely considered one of Mussorgsky's greatest works.
