Oktay Afandiyev
Oktay Abdulkerim oglu Afandiyev (Azerbaijani language, Azerbaijani: Oqtay Əbdülkərim oğlu Əfəndiyev; 26 March 1926 – 26 February 2013) was an Azerbaijani historian, Oriental studies, Orientalist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, ANAS and Founder of the Azerbaijan School of Safavid Studies. Early life Oktay Afandiyev was born on March 26, 1926, in the town of Baku in Azerbaijan. Academic career He entered Baku State University in 1945, but after a year he continued his education in Moscow. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Oriental Studies and in 1955 defended his doctorate dissertation. In 1993, he became a professor. He worked at the Institute of History of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Institute of History of ANAS for about sixty years. He was a corresponding member of ANAS since 2001. Oktay Yıldırım
Oktay Yıldırım (born 28 September 1971) is a former member of Turkey's Special Warfare Department, and was a defendant in the Ergenekon trials as well as the Turkish Council of State shooting. On 5 August 2013, then aged nearly 42, Yıldırım was sentenced to 33 years and 10 months. Yıldırım was a founder in 2005 of the Kuvayı Milliye Derneği, and was head of its Istanbul branch. İhsan Oktay Anar (born 1960 in Yozgat, Turkey), is a Turkish writer, illustrator, literature translator and an academic. He studied philosophy in Ege University on undergraduate (1984), graduate (1989) and doctoral levels. Anar now teaches at the same university, lecturing in antique philosophy and Greek. Esat Oktay Yıldıran
Esat Oktay Yıldıran (15 February 1949 – 22 October 1988) was a Turkish military officer who was appointed governor of the Diyarbakır Prison after the 1980 Turkish coup d'état. During the PKK insurgency, Yıldıran became known for his extensive torture of Kurdistan Workers' Party, PKK aligned Kurds in the Diyarbakır Prison.
