Ohr Torah Stone
Ohr Torah Stone (OTS) () is an international Modern Orthodox organization that aims to develop Jewish life, learning, and leadership. The organization is led by Rabbi Kenneth Brander. OTS was founded by Rabbi Shlomo Riskin in 1983. As of 2020, OTS included 27 educational institutions under its auspices. The organization also includes a network of over 300 emissaries who serve in positions of spiritual and educational leadership across North America, South America, Central America, Australia, and New Zealand. The organization has implemented initiatives in Jewish women’s leadership and empowerment, leadership training, Jewish outreach, and social action. Efrat (Israeli Settlement)
Efrat (), or previously officially Efrata (), is an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, established in 1983 in the Judaean Mountains, Judean Mountains. Efrat is located south of Jerusalem, between Bethlehem and Hebron, east of the Green Line (Israel), Green Line, at the State of Palestine, Palestinian side of the Israeli West Bank barrier, West Bank wall. The settlement stands at an altitude of up to above mean sea level, above sea level and covers about 6,000 dunam (1,500 acres). Agunah
An aguna or agunah (, plural: , ''ʿaḡunoṯ'') is a Jewish woman who is stuck in her marriage as determined by traditional halakha (Jewish law). The classic case is a man who has left on a journey and has not returned or has gone into battle and is missing in action. It is used as a borrowed term to refer to a woman whose husband refuses or is unable to grant her a divorce (which requires a document known as a '' get''). For a divorce to be effective, halakha requires a man to grant his wife a ''get'' of his own free will. Without a ''get,'' no new marriage will be recognized, and any child she might have with another man would be considered a '' mamzer'' ( illegitimate). Israeli Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of Israel (, Hebrew acronym Bagatz; ) is the Supreme court, highest court in Israel. It has ultimate appellate jurisdiction over all other courts, and in some cases original jurisdiction. The Supreme Court consists of 15 judges appointed by the President of Israel, upon nomination by the Judicial Selection Committee (Israel), Judicial Selection Committee. The Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA; ) was Israel's public broadcaster from 1948 to 2017, succeeded by the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation. Torah
The Torah ( , "Instruction", "Teaching" or "Law") is the compilation of the first five books of the Hebrew Bible, namely the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. Beth Midrash
A ''beth midrash'' (, "house of learning"; : ''batei midrash''), also ''beis medrash'' or ''beit midrash'', is a hall dedicated for Torah study, often translated as a "study hall". It is distinct from a synagogue (''beth knesseth''), although the two are often coextensive. In Yiddish the ''beth midrash'' may be referred to as a ''zal'', i.e. "hall". ''Beis midrash'' can also refer to a yeshiva gedolah, the undergraduate-level program in Orthodoxy, for boys over 12th grade.
